The last time I checked, I was in 829th place on the leaderboard of users with the most HP.

Today, just under two months later, I went back to take a look and was pleased to see that my run has made a nice leap forward, bringing me to 771st place.

So I’ve officially entered the Top 800, getting a little closer to what I consider my intermediate goal on the way to Orca status: becoming one of the 500 users with the most Hive Power.

Currently, the 500th spot is held by a user with around 33,000 HP, an amount still out of reach for me, but over time (and with a lot of patience) my intention is to get closer and closer, narrowing the gap step by step until I achieve that goal.

From there I’ll be about halfway to becoming an Orca, a goal so ambitious that for now it’s little more than an idea, a possibility I like to think about now and then while I dream of HIVE reaching more respectable market prices.

Yes, because seeing HIVE at these values is sad, especially when there are dozens — hundreds — of absurdly overvalued tokens with no utility whatsoever.

Not that Hive doesn’t have its flaws too, starting with funds wasted on expensive and utterly useless projects, but objectively what’s available on Hive is superior to what I find on many other, much more well-known chains, or at least some of those with much higher market caps.

Which often makes me wonder: how do these projects manage to outperform Hive without offering anything more? Is being just another Ethereum layer 2 really enough to attract more capital than a solid project that has been around for so many years like Hive?

Apparently yes, though I’m fairly convinced marketing plays an important role in all this.

Unfortunately, on Hive we still have an outdated approach to marketing: I’m no expert, but it doesn’t take much to notice that focusing on small realities, in a globalized and interconnected world, is neither an efficient (nor, I’d say, even working) way to bring users and capital to a chain.

What does all this have to do with my post? Not much, in fact, but when I see my HP growing and realize the good results I’ve achieved here over the years, I can’t help but feel a tinge of bitterness thinking that, all this time, Hive instead seems to have fallen further behind, further away from the spotlight, increasingly overlooked by investors who, apparently, would rather throw their money at yet another memecoin.

L'ultima volta che avevo controllato occupavo la 829esima posizione della classifica degli utenti con più HP.

Oggi, a distanza di poco meno di due mesi, sono andato a riguardare ed ho notato con piacere che la mia corsa ha fatto un bel salto in avanti, portandomi ad occupare la 771esima posizione.

Sono quindi entrato ufficialmente nella Top 800, avvicinandomi ancora un po' a quello che si può considerare il mio obiettivo intermedio verso lo status di Orca, ossia arrivare ad essere uno dei 500 utenti con più Hive Power.

Attualmente la 500esima posizione è detenuta da un utente con circa 33.000 HP, un quantitativo ancora fuori portata per me, ma con il tempo (e con tanta pazienza) è mia intenzione avvicinarmi sempre più, riducendo la distanza un passo alla volta sino a raggiungere questo obiettivo.

Da lì sarò più o meno a metà strada per diventare un'Orca, un traguardo talmente ambizioso che per ora è poco più di un'idea, una possibilità che ogni tanto mi piace considerare mentre sogno che HIVE raggiunga quotazioni di mercato più decorose.

Sì, perchè vedere HIVE a questi valori è triste, soprattutto quando a giro ci sono decine - centinaia - di token assurdamente sopravvalutati e senza alcuna utilità.

Non che anche Hive non abbia i suoi difetti, a cominciare da fondi sprecati in progetti costosi e completamente inutili, ma oggettivamente ciò che è disponibile su Hive è superiore a ciò che trovo su tante altre chains molto più note, o quantomeno con capitalizzazioni di mercato molto più elevate.

Cosa che mi porta spesso a chiedermi: ma come fanno questi progetti a fare meglio di Hive senza offrire niente in più? Davvero è sufficiente essere l'ennesimo layer 2 di Ethereum per attrarre più capitali di un progetto solido e che esiste da così tanti anni come Hive?

A quanto pare di sì, anche se sono abbastanza convinto che il marketing giochi un ruolo importante in tutto ciò.

Su Hive purtroppo abbiamo un modo vecchio di fare marketing: non che io sia un esperto, ma non serve molto per accorgersi che puntare sulle piccole realtà, in un mondo globalizzato ed interconnesso, non sia un modo efficiente (e, mi pare, anche solo funzionante) per portare utenti e capitali su una chain.

Che c'entra tutto ciò con il mio post? Non molto in effetti, ma quando vedo i miei HP crescere e mi accorgo dei buoni risultati che ho raggiunto qui in questi anni, non posso fare a meno di provare una punta di amarezza al pensiero che, in tutto questo tempo, Hive sembri invece essere rimasta sempre più indietro, sempre più lontana dalle luci della ribalta, sempre più snobbata dagli investitori che, a quanto pare, preferiscono buttare soldi a palate nell'ennesima memecoin.
