Nestled in rocky terrains from gardens to Mediterranean hillsides, the Rock Rose (Cistus and Helianthemum species) is a small yet striking flower known for its delicate pink, white, or magenta blooms. Belonging to the Cistaceae family, these low-growing shrubs are celebrated not only for their beauty but for their ability to thrive in arid, harsh environments—a true testament to nature’s resilience.
Rock Roses are characterized by their five-petaled, velvety blossoms and leathery green leaves. Though they resemble roses in shape, they lack the fragrance of their more famous cousin.
