IGaCoS is also known as the Island Garden City of Samal. The first inhibitors of the island are the sama-bajau people and also mansakas and mandayas, in lates 1840s Spaniards took over the island.
Our journey started when we went from Gensan to Samal one bright morning. The fluffy morning breeze hinted at adventure withdrawals. This caught my eye the inspiring and commanding Mt. Matutum rearing right into the skyline. High above, the orange sky, patterned with the shades of dawn, reminded us that a beautiful beginning awaits the daunting mountains. Gentle rays of sunshine kissed the land, casting long shadows over the rippling fields and far hills. It was peaceful, quiet assurance that while the terrain ahead may be rough, there are always sights of beauty for those with eyes to see.
BARGE
Once you arrive in Davao City and wish to visit Samal Island, you must board a barge or a RORO ferry (Roll-On/Roll-Off), which is loaded with vehicles. The cost is somewhere between ₱100 and ₱260 for a motorcycle, with an additionally charged ₱20 for a passenger, totaling to ₱120. To take the same ferry to Samal Island varies with different companies.
If you want to use public vehicle transport on the island, jeepneys, tricycles, and habal-habal (motorcycle taxis) will do however, the waiting will be longer compared to a car. Bringing a vehicle allows the convenience of reaching several locations such as Hagimit Falls, Monfort Bat Sanctuary, Kaputian Beach, Canibad Beach, and other resorts, given that several locations are somewhat outlying.
The ferry ride from Sasa Wharf (Davao City) to Babak Port (Samal Island) only takes 10 to 15 minutes; nevertheless, wait times can be longer during peak hours or public holidays due to increased vehicles and passengers. It is good to come early, particularly over weekends or during summer months with more tourists headed toward the island.
Otherwise, should going without your car be a consideration, you can buy a ticket on a passenger-only boat leaving from Sta. Ana Wharf in Davao City that can take you directly to several resorts and drop-off points within Samal Island.
I forgot to include the environmental fee upon entering the island for the maintenance of the environment in the Samal Island with the amount of 50 pesos.
We stayed in Georgias Resort , it is a private resort in Samal where you can bond privately with your friends and colleagues and even with your families.
We had short program before we have socialization night, small talks during the program and games so we won't get bored with everything.
Situated quite a ferry ride from Davao City, Samal Island offers a delightful getaway both to nature lovers and adventurers alike. One of its enchanting features is this lovely bridge that ushers one to a serene getaway by clear waters and stunning coastlines. The breezy moment while walking along the platform feels like the ocean air.
The waves whisper underfoot, and the sea glimmers before you, rolling off toward the horizon. Every plank seems to lead you to a delightful faraway sea with the rough and yet scenic visage of the bridge from which you look at everything! Each moment spent on Samal Island offers beautiful beaches, verdant forests, and an array of activities suited for every type of traveler.
Get away from the world in a remote beach resort, uncover tucked-away waterfalls, and be enthralled by the vibrancy of marine life through snorkeling and diving-all here on Samal. Hagimit Falls, the Monfort Bat Sanctuary, among other attractions like Kaputian Beach, Canibad Beach, and a plethora of private resorts that offer an enchanting peek at paradise. Among several options, adventure seekers can explore island hopping, cliff diving, kayaking, or spelunking in one of the island's remarkable caves. Beyond beautiful, Samal Island, with very warm and welcoming people, extends a sweet welcome to all who visit. Hospitality could very likely be the island's biggest charm, creating an atmosphere where people feel at home during this tropical escape.
