After a long day of cleaning the house and doing laundry with our clothes, I attend the anticipated mass at Dadiangas Medical Center together with my choirmates, our schedule is always every first Saturday of the month.
Only seven of us attended because the other members were at a different hospital to perform at a mass. Honestly, I preferred to be here because I felt uncomfortable with the group at the other hospital. Yesterday, our coordinator had a small, heated argument with a few members due to their tardiness with the schedule, but there has also been a history of conflict and emotional hurt between us and our coordinator. Despite this, I remain with this group because I chose to serve. I have been a part of this group for 10 years and I just want to continue serving the Lord. Each first Saturday of the month, the hospital held its anticipated mass and invited us to sing at every one of them. This hospital is one of the newest constructions in General Santos City.
After going to Mass, my boyfriend and I would go on the hunt for pastil from a street vendor. It's probably one of the most inexpensive and filling meals we can eat at any time. For only ten pesos, we get a serving of warm rice topped with shredded chicken, beef, or fish, wrapped in banana leaves. Along comes a side of fresh cucumber and cooked eggplant, creating a refreshing and savory accent on every bite.
Because of its affordable price, ease of preparation, and distinctive flavor, this humble but tasty dish has recently gained acceptance as street food in our community. Students, employees, and the like have fondly held pastil as a convenient, quick, and inexpensive meal. Again, versatility sells this food with a variety of stalls serving it with spicy sauce, soy sauce, fried eggs, and palapa (a Maranao condiment made from coconut, chilies, and spices).
That evening, we would order four pieces of pastil and two soft drinks, enjoying the warm treat while watching the hustle and bustle of the streets. No wonder pastil is still so popular, inexpensive comfort food, and an institution in our food culture.
Finally, we left for home because we couldn't afford to go out on the town. The truth is, we are practically broke right now, notwithstanding both of us are in a working phase in our lives that has proven quite difficult. Probably because no matter how hard we try, it feels as though the latent difficulties just keep dumping onto us. Yet, no matter how difficult times are, we continue to find joy in the simplest things. Sharing meals, walks in parks, or merely being with him: are what make it nice and simple. Perhaps we cannot afford elaborate dinners or exquisite vacations together, but just being with each other is worth much more. However tough life is at present, we still hold strongly to the belief that it will get better. Until then, we will continue to cherish these little moments because, in the end, love and companionship are the greatest treasures that no amount of money can buy.
So many thoughts in life while riding a motorcycle, I seen many people struggling for their daily needs in life. Some are so fortunate with what they have, I thank God for giving me enough food to eat every day, I was able to fulfill myself, I had no time in my life that I was so hungry and no money to be able to buy food. I hope you had enough food and water to drink, that's the basic need we need every day.
Have a nice day! Goodnight!😇😁😁
Note: Photos are personally taken by me myself and I.
We also need to spend some time with the Lord, even after the busy days. Even though I am not going to church often, I still manage to pray to thank Him for all the blessings of life. 🙏❤️💛
Praying is all we can do in the everyday chaos that has been happening right now. We must always seek God in each trial and achievement we have.
