Hello to all Hivers from every corner of the universe!
For today, I won't be writing about our escapes or giving a recipe like yesterday. I am a homebody for the whole day, today, with the kids, and had some quality time talking and laughing, and in the afternoon, we went to the nearest grocery store to have some pizza.
As we eat in the corner of the hypermarket, I just realized that the kids are growing too fast. Sky is now 5, and Meztli is 6. I was been very busy with work that I never noticed they're almost the same height as me. Good thing they never inherited my height.
Meztli is the only princess among my four children. She is a skinny, short-haired little lady at six. She is quiet and always does great in school. She will be in Grade 2 in June.
I remembered when she was 3. I was in my classroom already and about to start my lesson, then I grabbed my notebook from my backpack, only to find out that almost all the pages of my notebook had been doodled. And I was kind of mad at first, but I laughed after a second. The drawings are funny, and I knew it was her. My class wondered why I laughed alone, hahahha. I showed them the artwork and they laughed too.
From then on, Meztli used to draw anywhere in the house. On the walls, on the floor, on our tables and chairs, and even on her tumbler. Paper and pens were her most valuable treasure by then.
At 4, I noticed one afternoon, when I just arrived from work, that she was working on our computer. She was not watching Cocomelon that afternoon, but instead, I found her right hand over the mouse, and she was using Microsoft Paint. I didn't know where she got the idea about Paint, and who taught her. She made lines and shapes of different colors. She managed to draw using the app.
At 5, she began to include scissors in her artworks. She made papercrafts and even used her toys, making them into something more crafty, like she made paper dresses for her tiny dolls. We noticed it, but we just always says "very good Ate", Ate means big sister. She also became interested in TikTok, and she began to sing. In fairness, she's in tune and could memorize lyrics so fast.
Now that she is 6, she has become more crafty and has done well in drawing and sketching. Funny how she wants to become a Veterinarian when she loves art very much. Well, most of her drawings nowadays are cats, hamsters, and bunnies. It relates a little.
In our living room, being tidy is not attainable every day, especially now that they stay home for summer breaks. Pieces of paper strips, crayons and markers rolling on the floor, and scissors lying anywhere are a usual scenario. But I think this is almost true for every home with preschoolers. So I don't bother myself cleaning the floor every 5 minutes. It will kill me after 12 hours, hahahahha.
Meztli's art might be a normal thing to kids nowadays. They learned a lot from watching arts and crafts on YouTube and TikTok. They get smart ideas of how to draw and sketch things they have in their minds. It is just that I am amazed how she learned these things well when I was at her age; all I could draw were balls and flowers with leaves. Like, until today, I can't draw at all. One time in my class, I tried to draw a cow on the board, but my students couldn't hold their giggles when the cow turned into a rat, an ugly rat.
My daughter, Meztli, is active in her academics and extra-curricular activities in school. Thank God, she wasn't like me when I was 6. I was shy and was not so good at my academics.
If you are still with me up to this point, thank you very much. See you again in my next blogs. Have a great day, and God Bless You.
