Introductory Blog: MARCHing Towards the Beginning of My HIVE-Venture for More Productivity and Self-Enhancement with a Grateful Heart

Hola Beautiful Beings of Hive Universe! Hope everyone is doing great. I just want to tell you a bit about myself as I am a new member here on Hive.🙂

💟 About Me 💟
I am Rovilyn Amora, you can call me @bettsmarie09. I am a newbie to this form of self-expression and I am excited to be part of this awesome platform, thanks to the guidance of @antonette. In the past whenever I read articles or essays online, I wondered whether I could do it or not, unbeknownst to me that I would be doing the same thing at the present. In this fast-paced world, this medium is a perfect way for me to recall and record my experiences and present them to people who also share the same interests and goals as I do. I am truly excited to capture moments that I sometimes just take for granted. Truly grateful for this amazing platform!

I was born in Bohol, Philippines but now I am in Cebu City. These two islands are just near each other. I was born in a town far from the city, about 100 kilometers away. I was in Grade 3 when my parents wanted me study in the city. So I became a little independent starting at the age of 9 years old. It was a lonely time for me and I got homesick. Somehow I learned to be independent at a young age until I get used to the feeling of looking after myself. Also, thanks to the guidance of a family friend who also owned the house that I stayed in.

I am the youngest in the family. Due to wide age gap with my brothers, I grew up alone or away from them. They also went to other cities to study or find work. We saw each other once or twice a year (during town fiesta or in Christmas). My parents would visit me in the city once or twice a month. I felt that those were the happiest weekends for me. Sunday afternoons were filled with sadness or homesickness when my parents had to go home. This went on until high school when my father passed away tragically. I wasn’t able to spend more time with him (as I was studying in the city during those years). It is another missing piece in my life.

Fast forward to the recent years, I had thought of going abroad for work, but my mother suddenly got sick so I assumed the responsibility of looking after her. Unfortunate events sometimes do happen when you think you’ve already laid everything out. In hindsight, God gave me the chance to bond with my mom in her last years, as if to compensate the times when we were apart and those missed moments while I was growing up.

I started working as a homebased ESL Teacher when I had to take care of my mom. I had similar job experiences before this but officebased ESL. Thankfully, homebased work allowed me to look after my mom conveniently, and at least, I continued earning and not remain stagnant. I was (and is still) grateful for the opportunities and learning that this type of work has provided me. I also assisted my friends whose part-time work was related to wedding coordination if I had the time. It was challenging at times but I enjoyed the series of activities that led to a memorable event. In the future, I hope to join more tree planting activities. This reminds me of my father’s legacy in our birthplace. He wanted to plant more trees on the property that we owned; and I hope I could do that someday too.

Currently, I and my partner have a small business- selling homemade desserts/snacks. We sell these items within the community. My plan is to continue marketing our goodies outside the community hopefully someday while doing homebased ESL work in the morning. Now that I am in this platform, I hope to be more active in producing meaningful content. I guess I might develop my photography skills too as pictures are much needed to convey my thoughts. I believe that being engaged in these ventures will make me more productive while working on this platform for my passive income. Learning will surely be a part of every step along the way, thus it can enhance my skills and my interpersonal relationships. We are still in the first quarter of 2025 so I can still achieve a lot this year (I truly hope so). I am aiming for personal growth and total well-being as I journey through the peaks and valleys of life with a grateful heart.

💟 Who Onboarded Me to Hive 💟
I first heard about Hive from a previous coworker. We haven’t sent each other messages for several months. One time, I just asked her about headphones, then thankfully she also shared about Hive. She was still new to this platform that time. I got interested because this is where I can show my creativity and express my thoughts in the form of blogging. My friend then introduced me to @antonette who kindly guided me and onboarded me to Hive Universe😊. I am so grateful that I was led to this path. Thank you very much @antonette.

💟 What I Can Contribute to Hive 💟
When I was thinking about joining Hive, I thought deeply about what I would write (thoughts like: my daily life is too simple and boring, I don’t have pictures to show, maybe they wouldn’t like it anyway…) As I slowly immerse myself on this platform, I realize that I have much to share about my experiences and the places I’ve been to. Some mundane tasks can be made exciting through blogging and documenting with pictures, so it makes me more creative and productive. I will also be writing about some desserts or snacks that we are selling, our visits to towns, tourist spots within my region, or any thing that is meaningful and interesting.

💟 What Hive Can Expect from Me 💟
I will do my best to post contents that have positive value to the community. I have already started engaging in some communities and so I am planning to post in these communities too. I understand that meaningful engagement is also important on this platform so I will keep that in mind. I believe the platform wants every member to grow and support each other, and I am completely onboard with that.🙂
