Good day ASEAN Hivers!
Our theme for this week's challenge was really a bit of a challenge for me.... Haha
Why? Well, because it's hard to find street art or graffiti here in our city. I seldom see them. Street art is really fun I just hope our local government will create some fun activities for the youth and adults alike to make some street art on our designated city walls, you know to add beauty and it will become a thing for some artists to look forward to every year. Of course there will be a prize so the contestants will really do their part. I guess I've heard before they did it on one of the barangay's but it was for a short while then it stopped. The reason unknown but I think this brings positivity on a place don't you agree? instead of seeing vandalism people will see beautiful art and painting which can beautify the place. Hmmmmmm...... Probably when I will be the mayor I will have make a resolution and have it approved from the higher government and make it a nationwide republic act no. 1111 - The Street Art Act... Hahaha, Just kidding!😍
Anyways, so much for the segway.
Last 2022, October hubby and I together with my sister we visited our son who is also our only child at his University up the city of pines and is hailed as the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio City.
They have a main road there located on the heart of the city called the Session Road. Every Sunday this main thorough fare road is closed to all vehicles. Then the local government will place some tents for local businesses to sell their products, their produce, their own handicrafts. There are kids doing some cosplay as well.
We even got to see Darna, our local superhero with the likes of Wonder Woman when it comes to her super powers but her's is different, she needs to swallow a stone in order for her to change her persona... She always says this line, Ding Ang Bato!!! Meaning Ding the stone! Ding is her sidekick, a young man who knows her secret and who holds or carries the stone. I don't know until now why Ding is the one always carrying the stone... Hahaha.
Baguio's cool climate sets it apart as a refreshing escape from the sweltering heat of the lowland. Look at this photo it's already past 8 am but see how thick the fog is.
Moving on to what we see during Sunday's. There are a lot of local artists as well showcasing their talents. You will hear them playing their favorite musical instruments like the flute, violin, guitar. Others form a band and while some just sing on their own bringing with them big speakers that has an amplifier.
The whole street turns into a Mardi gras. Such a happy and fun place to be. So many visitors from the lowlands and foreigners visit Baguio.
While we were there we get to see students and kids showcasing their street art. Anyone can join in the fun. You just have to bring your colored chalks and of course your talent then you can draw just like these kids here. The government designated a place for them so they can create their art.
If only I had the gift of drawing and painting art you would see me here but since I don't have so I just take my camera documenting their beautiful art works.☺️☺️
So this is my entry for this week's #aseanhive #challenge #98 #streetart hosted again by our very creative and friendly admin @justinepark.
