Yay! It's that time of the year again, while many people think Christmas is the best time of the year, for me it's spring, I love it when everything starts to get revived again after the long, cold and dark winter staying dormant in hibernation.
Every year around March 15, I start seeding tomato and marigold seeds I saved from the year before in the seeding tray.
We bought this tray three years ago and it's a lot better than the smaller cheap ones, it has 77 small spaces so that's a lot!
On the right side we planted 11 tomato seeds of different breeds, everything else are marigolds, not all for personal use of course or our entire garden would be orange in the summer. 😂
Over the years more and more people know I plant them every year and started asking for a couple for their own gardens.
Today it's March 30, 15 days ago we planted everything and today already I need to put the first tomato plants outside of the seeding tray in to larger cups because they has reached the top of the transparent cover!
Tomato plants are real cry babies, when I move them over in to their new temporary homes to grow bigger and stronger before they can go outside around May 15 (that's when the chance of nights below 0 degrees is gone) they get in so much shock it looks like they will die!
The first time this happened I really thought I messed up, now - after moving them, I put them in a dark room for the first day so they can recover from their shock... 😅
So, for the next 6 weeks, this is their home, on a room we use to store my tools and hang the laundry to dry
I think it's very cool to see how strong they grow, so I'll make an update post in about two weeks!
Healthy looking seedlings, I need to plant my tomatoes also.
And thank you for your vote for my SPS Validator node :)
Hopefully they will produce many tomatoes again so we can make soup and pasta sauce with them 😊
You're welcome, we need to support each other 😀
Transplant shock is really painful for plants, it is good that you know it's solution. So after a few days you will start donating plants again! 😊
Home gardening is fun and a lot of people do it. It must be good vibes around to see these plants growing
It's indeed the time wishing us all the best
