Hivegarden Garden Update: Did my plants survive my holiday?

A couple of weeks ago I made a post about my indoor plants. I've been trying to propagate some plants, but now I was going for a three week holiday.
I knew my parents in law were going to pay our house a visit to stay here for a couple of days, so I thought my plants would survive if I left them with enough water.

Now we have returned from our holiday I want to give you an update on how the plants are doing.

Here are the plants in my small greenhouse. They are cutlings that I have put in water. They have been doing quite well. They nicely continued growing roots.

The first one is a cutling of a ficus. It already formed roots, but they have been growing more and more. I think I'm going to put this one into a pot with some soil mixed with some 0perlite.

The second one is a cutling from a picke plant. It has grown quite some ling roots, but they are very thin. I doubt wether I would put this in soil already or that I should wait a bit more.

The third one is also a succulent plant. It has grown a small bunch of short and thin roots. For this one I think I'll wait some more too.

The last one is a recent cutling from what I think is a pothos. These plants are really easy to propagate and grow roots really fast.
And it shows since I had put this one in water just before I went on holiday and it has grown quite long roots already.

Before I went on holiday I made some more cutlings from my ficus and put them in water. Strangely enough only one of them has formed some roots until now. Although I do see the white dots that will grow out to roots on the others too.

Syngonium Albo variegata

My Syngonium Albo variegata is doing really good. Before I went on holiday it was growing a new leaf. When I came home that leaf was fully wolled out and a fifth one is about to open up.

It is known for albo plants to have some difficulties with growing because they need chloroplasts for photosynthesis and the white parts don't have a lot of chloroplast.
I hope it will make more leaves that are predominantly green with white spots.

Alocasia Bambino Pink Variety

I was a bit worried about my Alocasia Bambino Pink Variety. I keep it in a large glass vase with some plastic foil with tiny holes in it so it has a nice and humid environment. But the plant is just so tiny. When I left it had only two small leaves. But look at it now; it has grown two extra leaves in just three weeks time!

Some of its leaves are also starting to show some colored spots which is the pink variety. I'm quite excited to see what this plant will look like in a few months.

In my previous post I already showed my money plant. I got this one back in februari this year as a small cutling and it has been growing massively. It are actually two different plants in one pot.
I had put it in the window sill, but it's growing to big for that spot now.
I think I am going to have to seperate these plants and going to have to repot them too.

I've also taken two cutlings from the plant. This will stimulate the plant to grow new stems and I can start propagating this plant myself too now.

I also have a large collection of Chinese money plants. These are so easy to multiply. They grow new plants alongside the mother plant. You just have to dig them out and put them in their own pot.
I probably need to give some of them away since I also still have a couple of grown money plants in my house.
Apart from the money plants I have some more small plants I have multiplied by tearing them up.

And then I have this dragon tail plant with its nice yellow and green leaves. It has grown two long stems with leaves. I learned that when you want your plant to grow more full you have to cut these stems. And that is what I did. I cut the longest stem and also made a couple of cutlings from it.

image.png

I've put the cutlings in some small bottles filles with some water from my rain barrel. I hope these plants will start to grow roots too soon.
I've put them all together in my tiny indoor green house.

If you have come this far; thanks for reading my blog. I will give you another update in a couple of weeks!

Happy gardening!

That one didn't like your holiday. It still has some green on it, so it might even recover from it.
