Our Community Garden Blooms With Vibrant Vegetables, Healing Herbs and Flowers That Inspire Everyone Who Walks By

Hello, Hive Gardeners! I hope you’re all enjoying gentle days in your gardens, watching life return leaf by leaf. Today, I want to share a story from our own small community garden. It’s a simple place beside the irrigation line in our purok, but it has become one of the things we are most proud of.

After the very hot months many of our plants struggled and some even died. But the rain returned, and lowly the harden started to show life again. When I visited this week, I walked through the rows with excitement, almost like checking on old friends who survived a long challenge.

The first plants that caught my attention were our bottle gourds. They grew in unique shapes variety the salakot variety, some long, some round, some the looked like they were trying top tell a joke. Beside the, were our bitter gourd, climbing strongly on the trellises. The squash plants were also spreading widely. Their leaves big and healthy. All of these made me smile, because these vegetables are not only food for us, they also remind us of our teamwork and patience.

But the real start of our garden, the one people always talk about, is our chili patch. Our green chili plants are full of fruits, so many that you can see the, even from the road. Some of the, already turned red wile still growing in plastic bottle, they look so bright and attractive that people passing by often stop to admire them. Anyone walking near our garden always says. There are many chilies! And its true. These chili plants made our small community garden looks alive.

We also have herbs growing in our corner. We planted mayana, lemongrass, ginger and a few others. These herbs help us a lot, especially when someone in the community gets sick. If a child has a cough or someone needs a natural remedy, we already have what we need right in our garden. It feels good to knows that a small plant we cared for can help a neighbor feel better.

Our community garden may not be very big. We are only fifteen households but we take care of it together. We harvest only what we need and make sure everyone gets their share. It has become our shared pantry, a place that gives us vegetables for our meals and brings us closer as neighbors. It has also become a space where conversations and laughter grow easily.

The cosmos flowers along the road are another favorite. Their bright colors make their whole place look cheerful and welcoming. Many people who walk by stop just to look at the, Sometimes the flowers seem to greet us as we pass, as if they’re happy we came to visit.

This year, something wonderful happened. Our small purok won Champion in our barangay for being the cleanest and greenest community. Even though we are the smallest group, we showed that when people work together, great things can grow.
