From Our Garden to Fresh Organic Lettuce Salad Every Day

Hello everyone!

One of my husband favorite vegetables to grow on our farm is curly wave lettuce. He enjoys planting it because it grows fast and is always in demand. He starts growing it from seeds, and after about 30 days, it is already growing well. Usually harvest it between 35 to 50 days, depending on the weather and how healthy the plants are.

Even though lettuce is easy to grow, it is also very sensitive. Too much rain can damage the leaves, while extreme heat can make them wilt. That is why my husband helps me water the lettuce every afternoon using clean water. We also make sure that the soil is rich in organic matter because we want our lettuce to be naturally healthy. We do not use harmful chemicals because most of our customers are people who choose a healthy lifestyle, and they trust us to provide fresh organic vegetables.

When we receive many orders, my sister-in-law comes to our farm as early as 3:00 am. She is the expert when it comes to making fresh salads. I always admire how fast and neatly she prepares every order. As for me, I usually make salad only for our family or when I want a healthy afternoon snack after work. I also prepare salad for my mother-in-law because I want her to enjoy fresh and nutritious food.

We sell our lettuce salad in 500 ml and 750 ml cups. We also make fresh vegetable rolls that we sell for ₱12 each, while resellers can buy them for ₱10 each. I am happy because this small business also helps my sister-in-law earn extra income to support her children's school allowance.
Many customers visit our farm to buy fresh lettuce. Sometimes, I also bring six cups of salad to school because some of my fellow parents place their orders with me. It always makes me smile whenever they tell me they enjoyed our fresh salads.

If you are thinking about starting a garden, I encourage you to try planting lettuce. You can easily buy seeds online, and you do not need a big space. Even recycled plastic containers or small pots are enough to grow them. With proper care, regular watering, and healthy soil, you can harvest your own fresh lettuce in just a few weeks.

Gardening has taught me that every seed we plant grows with patience, and hard work. Every harvest tells me that simple farming can provide healthy food for my family and extra income for our home. Seeing our customers enjoy our fresh organic lettuce inspires me to keep planting and sharing the goodness of homegrown vegetables.
