Adult life and having to work, learn and keep progressing forward definitely makes gaming hard!
Are you mostly looking at getting back into the old games, or looking to try some different games?
I try set time aside on the weekend to get gaming time that isn't recording or screenshots for blogging about, due to mental health and to just sit down, have time that isn't for working or as part of something but to enjoy.

I did try playing old games but I noticed that I did not have the same interest I had during my young age. Maybe I would be interested in trying out some new games in the same Genre.
Yeah some people can't get back into it, especially when only used to new style graphics.
Hopefully you can find some new games you will enjoy!
