Crownrend - My Strategies In The First Week

Hello! It's my second post in the Hive Gaming community!

It has been close to one week since I tried out this new game on Hive, called Crownrend!

A quick recap, I actually chanced upon this game from @deathwing and later on, I saw a post by @achim03 earlier where he actually did a detailed video walk through of how the game worked. And so I paid 10 HBD to sign up for the game!

So after close to one week, how has it been?

So this is how my account currently looks like. Some of the stats have been levelled up by using the DENAR that I earned. I will discuss my thoughts about each stat later on, but I just want to say my level of activity over the past week is somewhere between a hardcore player and a casual player. I actually wanted to play this casually but everything felt so interesting at the start, and there was a learning curve at the start so I had to spend some time to figure things on my own as each day progresses.

So let's talk a little about strategy and why I have levelled up my stats this way.

ARMY STRENGTH: LEVEL 4
ARMY TOUGHNESS: LEVEL 5

Army Strength helps to steal more DENAR from your opponents during raids, while Army Toughness helps to reduce the amount of DENAR that would be stolen. After the first few days, I realised these two stats are linked because if your Strength is lower than your opponent's Toughness, your raid would fail and you can't steal any DENAR.

What this means is, I have Level 4 Army Strength, I can only raid players and steal DENAR from players with Army Toughness Level 4 and below. If I were to raid anyone with Army Toughness Level 5 and above, I would have wasted my raid and get nothing. And vice versa, with my Army Toughness at Level 5, any players with Army Strength Level 4 and below would not be able to raid and steal DENAR from me.

Upon realising how this worked, I immediately put my priority in upgrading these stats because I feel these are the two most important stats. As most players gradually level up, having a low level Army Strength would limit oneself from the universe of players to raid from, and I gradually felt the impact more and more day after day.

And because raids were the key part of the game, and I wasn't able to click exactly at every 4 hour mark all the time, I felt that I needed a higher level of Army Toughness to deter players from raiding and stealing DENAR from me. At the start, it was quite effective, but as more players levelled up, suddenly, a Level 5 Army Toughness is not really strong anymore.

I will still continue to work on these two stats because they are just super important.

ARMY TACTICS: LEVEL 3
ARMY SPEED: LEVEL 3

Army Tactics decreases the chance of your raid failing while Army Speed increases the chance of your opponent's raid failing. Once again, these two stats go together because whenever you are raiding or being raided, it's always a comparison of your stats vs your opponent's stats.

I think Level 3 is a decent level for now, and I will always try to raid players with a lower speed. Compared to the pure attack and defence stats, this is of a much lower importance in my view.

ARMY LEADERSHIP: LEVEL 2
ARMY MORALE: LEVEL 2

Army Leadership increases your chances of critical hits, which allows you to double the amount of DENAR stolen from raids, whereas Army Morale decreases your opponent's chance of critical hits. So similar to the earlier pairs, whenever you are raiding or being raided, it's always a comparison of your stats vs your opponent's stats.

Similar to Army Tactics and Army Speed, I think this is a good to have, and not a must have. It's nice to land a critical hit, and get double the DENAR, but it's more important to be able to attack and land a successful hit. Moreover, if one is unable to claim the stolen DENAR quickly, it puts one at the risk of being raided as well.

As such, I think these two stats are of lowest priority. And I don't foresee myself pushing this above Level 2 for now.

TAX EFFICIENCY: LEVEL 2

This is the passive income from the game, as you earn DENAR by the second. Initially, it felt like a no brainer to max out this component if the plan is just to be passive and play this game casually. But while doing the math, I realised there is limited benefit from increasing the rate of income because ultimately, the main issue is still the 4 hour cooldown for claiming DENAR. And if I am at work or sleeping, sometimes, I might only be able to claim after 8 or 12 hours, and any excess above a certain level would be raided and stolen anyway. As such, unless I can commit myself to claim diligently every 4 hours (which also isn't possible when I am sleeping), I don't see much benefit from increasing this Level. It might be better off improving my defence instead.

MINE LEVEL: LEVEL 1

Mine Level is another passive source of income, and given that it takes 100 DENAR to upgrade to Level 2, I think it's priced out of most people's affordability for now. Similar to Tax Efficiency, there is limited benefit from a strong passive rate of income because of the raiding and stealing.

VAULT LEVEL: LEVEL 1

Vault Level determines how much unclaimed DENAR you can hold. It sounds interesting to upgrade to a higher level initially, but after observing the game for the past week, sadly, one will never reach 5 unclaimed DENAR to claim.

Looking at the current snapshot, the player with the highest unclaimed DENAR is only 2.8. As such, the Vault Level is currently of not much use.

All in all, with 19 KP points, I am currently ranked #110. Am sliding down by the day, but that's alright because I am currently playing at my current pace.

For those who want to speedrun the game, of course, one can purchase more DENAR on the Hive Exchange to upgrade one's stats, and conversely, one can withdraw earned DENAR to sell for profits too. The price of DENAR has come down in the initial days but seemed to be stabilised over the past few days. Currently, 1 DENAR is trading at 0.47 to 0.51 Hive.

Personally, I feel that like most games, the game tokens usually trade high at the start but gradually decline as more players find their rhythm and start to sell the tokens to either take some profits and recoup some of their initial capital. As such, I believe this might happen to DENAR as well. Because of this idea, I have sold some of the claimed DENAR for Hive, and perhaps when it's cheaper, I can buy back more and then upgrade faster. It's a risky move because prices are unpredictable but let's see. Hehe.

So summing up, these are my thoughts after my first week of trying out this game. Looking forward to continue my exciting journey and hopefully we will see more developments later on as well - I see that the "Alliance" icon is out too.
