Even the water used could give a difference in taste. I know a Belgian brewery which was bought out by a big multinational, they decided to close the smaller brewery and replace the brewing process to one of their big breweries. But the taste of the beer had changed too much, in the end they had to retransfer the brewing process to the smaller brewery...
