Over 2 weeks ago, I started to run my own Hive-Engine witness node.
First of all I want to thank all people who voted for my node already. Thats so amazing π
If you wanna vote for my witness as well a link can be found at the end of this post.
I guess I did the right decision to choose a powerful server not an VPS one to have all the ressources guaranteed. So my system load keeps low and I didnt miss a block since then πͺ
Operating system: Ubuntu 20.4
4 CPU Cores
256 Gigabyte SSD Storage
8 Gigabyte of RAM
Im now close to 100 hundreds block verfied. Feels like a little milestone set by myself to be honest.
I also had a short look into the code which is running by my server as it is shared on a public GitHub repository. As far as I could see there is potential to get a bit more performance when rewriting parts of it to make nodes more robust. But I am not a professional coderπ
I already send a small reworked code part to @primersion to let him test it when he gets the time for it. I need to dive deeper into all this before I can do it on my own, like creating test etc.
In my initial post I said I would write a new tutorial for all newcomer who wanna run a witness node on their own. But as the content gets outdated quite fast it might be better to redirect the people to the Hive-Engine Discord maybe? There everybody would get great support from every witness node owner with the newest informations.
