I have a tiny amount of excess Grain. The biggest problem is that I don't even have enough DEC to make my Plots productive. Overall this is a very update. We must make sure that there are interesting game modes available for many different types of players. Land at its current form can get boring very soon.

It is a needed update, most likely. Some people started to accumulate impressive amounts of Grain. Without introducing specialized plots as the whitepaper mentions, Grain value would only go down. When the production of Grain goes down and demand up, things will start to become interesting. LPs will see some volume too.
A sense of progress in development is vital to keep the sentiment positive. Investors are often turned away by a community that has little hope or excitement in a project.
