Hello there!
Surprise - I bought my first new Splinterlands card in 2026!
It's been a while since I share about the stuff I see on Splinterlands, other than my weekly brawls.
Having been a Splinterlands player since 2021, it's been almost 5 years. Even though I am not a big player, somehow I realised I have more than 60 vouchers sitting in my account. The tokenomics and mechanism of vouchers have undergone several changes and now they can't be sold. So today I decided to check out the Shop to see if there was anything I can buy with just 60 vouchers.

To my surprise, actually there was! 25 vouchers for a Common Death and Earth unit Grayhammer Painsmith! I could buy 2!

So here's a closer look at the card! Having multiple elements is always a plus point for cards because they allow players to have more options. Having 2 Ranged damage and Close Range at Level 1 is also pretty decent, considering this is just a Common card.

Extra potion boost for a shot at Gold Foil? Of course! Amazing how I have 600 Alchemy potions sitting in my account. Lol!

Purchase success! And that's the first new Splinterlands card that I have bought this year!

Out of curiosity, I actually went to the market to check out the price of this card. Wow, it's currently at USD 0.35! Considering that state of the market, a Common card at this price is quite surprising. Maybe it's because it's newly released.

So since I have 60 vouchers, and one of this only cost 25 vouchers, I actually could buy a second copy! And therefore, I did it on impulse!! So now the objective is the list and sell one copy, and keep the other copy. Because why not, right? It's the best of both worlds! Hahaha.

And just when I thought everything was going well, I realised one can swap vouchers into DEC! So vouchers can be liquidated after all, because DEC is on Hive Engine and be traded with many tokens on the Hive blockchain! And of course, to my horror, but no surprise, swapping voucher for DEC is actually more profitable than selling the card. Haha. Oh well.
I guess life is like that. We make mistakes, and we learn. Perhaps someday in the future, the card will appreciate in value? Haha.

That's all I have! Let me know if you have any thoughts too!
As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!
