Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - Long Awaited Debut For Hugo Strongsword!

Time flies! Just completed the 245th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

Moving Back To Bronze Fray

Had 6 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

We Got 7th!!!

So for the final result, we were 7th out of 10 guilds and got 300 Merits and around 7 SPS! A good bag of SPS! Who knows how much one SPS would go to in this market?

Individually, I had 6 fights this time and I won all 5 of them this time! Finished 3rd within the guild. Due to change in format, wins are actually awarded to the players present in the fray if guilds decided to skip the fray. For this round, there were 3 additional wins for me.

Gladius Card Used: Marisol Contuma

Marisol Contuma looked weak in this battle, which was kind of surprising because it was a strong card. Fortunately, Chaos Dragon was there to the rescue and secured the win for the team.

Battle 3 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Witch Of Warwick

Ouch! Quora Towershead was back to haunt my brawls once again. I thought I did very well in my card choices and card placements. Haunted Spirit survived very well, and Rifting had Scavenge ability going on too. But it all came to a defeat when my team was left to face Quora Towershead. There was just no way around her for this brawl.

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Larissa Kerato

My opponent had a good amount of damage output and my team struggled in the early stages. Fortunately, Larissa Kerato was able to get the Bloodlust going through some luck and she single handedly carried the team to the finishing line. What a difference a Legendary Gladius card makes!

Battle 5 - WIN

Did you see a difference in the background? There's Weary in the ruleset and wow I am just blown away by both the difficulty and the creativity. Fortunately, Larissa Kerato did extremely well once again, and overcame the tough Quora Towershead in this one.

Battle 6 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Hugo Strongsword

Gargoya Lion did extremely well for this Earthquake battle. My opponent definitely had strong cards but my lineup coped better with Earthquake and that was the difference.

So that sums up my 6 battles for this brawl! 83% win rate this time, pretty satisfied because we have had some tough battles. Let's keep fighting PIZZA 2!

Review Of Gladius Cards

Since I am able to use Gladius cards now, I thought I should review selected cards that helped me win in the brawls. This round, I have Hugo Strongsword which have featured in my wins. Of course, please let me know if you have any tips in using these cards too as I am keen to learn and improve too!

RARITY: COMMON
ABILITY: BLOODLUST, SHIELD

I realised I have not done a feature on Hugo Strongsword. Facing with too many strong Life Gladius cards like Captain Katie and Sola Ranjell or even Marisol Contuma, it's not easy for Hugo Strongsword to get a place in brawl lineups most of the time. But at 5 mana, I must it is a niche card that can perform at selected rulesets. With so many new rulesets, and more combinations due to the interactions between new and existing rulesets, it's always good to have a varied selection of cards. While Hugo Strongsword is not a star card, it can definitely make a good contribution to the team.
