I started to play the game recently. I don't know to much but at level 1, I prefer to use a card having magic ability and keep the card in 3rd/4th position. You mentioned about level 5. I guess I need to wait till I upgrade my card to that level to understand your strategy better.

The strategy of using magic cards in the backline is quite good as a beginner. However, it will work even if you don't wait until level 5. If you get the Equalizer ruleset at level 1, you can try it in the 2nd position.
I use it when equalizer exist. why should I miss such an opportunity.
