Splinterlands: Accounting My Progress Toward Completing Rebellion Soul Bound Set at the End of Season

(edited)

Last few hours of the season for Ranked Play at Splinterlands, and it is time for me to see what's my progress toward completing the Rebellion SB set.

Before I get to that, this season is the first time after a very long time when I played a few (emphasis on "a few") games in Modern, in Diamond 1. I lost them all, of course. It's a completely different game from the one I remembered, different from what I play in Brawls, and probably my skills aren't what they used to be either. I'll repeat the experience next season, to see if 2 tiers lower is easier. I doubt it. I always hated Gold leagues. The good thing is that now in Gold leagues you can use maxed cards, unlike the time when I used to drop there accidentally and found it difficult to get out.

Let's get back to my progress for my Rebellion SB set.

It was very close to not reach CL2 this time around, and miss the rewards for advancing to CL2. Only happened last night, but it did. The reason why it became tougher is that now Modern players started to play in Wild too, to unlock the tier advancement rewards in both formats...

Like I planned at the end of last season, I didn't buy any more chests this time to focus on draws, since I receive chests as tier advancement rewards.

I purchased all 10 legendary draws from batch 1 (and I pulled another from one of the reward chests). With the remaining Glint, I purchased 1 epic draw, 7 rare draws and 3 common ones, depleting my Glint stash.

That makes it easy to see how much Glint I earned this season (including the season rewards from last season). That makes it a total of 363,200 Glint. I think it's better than last season, but I don't have a number for that.

Let's see what my current situation of the Rebellion SB set completion progress is so far:

Season since New SB SetCommons %Rares %Epics %Legendaries %
Season 11 / 02 / 08 / 09 / 0
Season 22 / 12 / 09 / 017 / 0
Season 33 / 12 / 010 / 023 / 0
Season 45 / 23 / 112 / 027 / 0
Season 5 (current)7 / 24 / 213 / 036 / 0

That's +9% to the progress of legendary cards, which is more like it. A nice speedup compared to the previous two seasons. Only +1% to epic cards progress, but I don't worry about them, they are fewer and when I start focusing on them, progress will go up much faster than on any of the others. +1% to both RF and GF rare cards, and +2% to RF common cards is ok. Progress on them will go much faster when I'll focus on them. My first objective is to max out my first legendary card. After which, I'll switch focus, because I might receive a double, which means wasted Glint, which can be avoided when there are other options.

In the last update, I said this about my Rebellion SB legendary cards:

One at level 3, and the rest about half at level 1 and half at level 2.

Look here what one a difference one season can make:

My Rebellion legendary SB reward cards: 2 at level 3, 8 at level 2 and 2 at level 1.

Perhaps a more relevant metric is the amount of Glint already spent compared to the total amount needed to max out the SB set (only regulars).

Here' s my situation:

Glint needed for a fully upgraded regular Rebellion SB set, w/o doubles:
8,790,000 Glint

Glint value of the cards collected so far (ignore GF and doubles):
2,048,650 Glint

Progress percentage:
23.31%

Estimated time to max out the RF cards (or GF, where possible):
19 more seasons (9.5 months)

A good progress of almost 5% this season. It's a good pace to keep up or even improve a bit.

I have come to realize how good the Epic Monsters are and I'm trying to collect more of them. The new Abilities are very powerful and most players are not using them at the moment.

How about the Debilities? Aren't they an issue?

It depends on the Ruleset. I have had some serious defeats and victories because of these Monsters.

You are making good progress. I didn't know that the modern players were running to Wild to get chests, but it does make sense. If they have a max deck, the rewards from those chests might make it worthwhile. Maybe that is why I thought modern was slightly easier this time around.

Yeah, some are playing both. Of course, Modern first, since there are better rewards, and they don't have to pay for it. And of course, it doesn't apply for all of them. For lower leagues Modern it might not be profitable to play Wild because of the entry fee.

But that's ok. I invaded "their" format too. And lost, lol.
