HoloZing - Completed The Holo Dust Achievement!

It's a brand new year already! A new month means a new monthly update of HoloZing from me! Time flies, it's more than 1 year already, how's everyone doing?

First up: Holo Dust

There weren't many updates within the last month but there's a lot of stuff for HoloZing players to participate this month! For the month of December, players were tasked to collect Holo Dust by logging in every single day! And I was glad that I did it this time! YAY!

Last year, there was a similar event and due to vacation, I was only able to log in to 20 unique days out of 31. So this time, I was determined to do it and it feels so satisfying to achieve this! Let's go what this achievement will bring later on in the game!

For those who are more curious, here's a quick refresh of what Holo Dust is!

• Holo Dust will be one of our main in-game materials, this will be used in many ways but primarily in crafting.
• To prepare our healers for our upcoming game, you will now be able to claim some dust in your daily December claims and stack it up to the total amount in your account.

The key thing is Holo Dust is non-tradeable!

Next up: ZING drops

In my last update, I shared that the ZING daily distribution rewards will be changing, based on the table below.

For me, I did a sample check back then and found out that most of my ZING drops were from ZING Collection (91%), followed by HP Delegation (7%), with the remaining from ZING Staking (2%). Based on the latest change, I predicted that it should be beneficial for me since ZING Collection will be bumped up from 90,000 ZING per day to 200,000 per day.

And indeed it was correct! Based on my current holdings, my daily ZING rewards have increased from 100+ to 150+ since the switch during 24 Dec! I noticed that was a big dip in 24 Dec, I suspect it's because someone bought a lot of Alpha Vials, hence reducing the pool rewards for Alpha Vials across the board. And that's the reason why the daily ZING rewards are on a declining trend because there are people buying Alpha Vials everyday!

At time of writing, 2,804 Alpha Vials have been sold!

Of course, no HoloZing update is complete without talking about my ZING stake.

Back to the usual update, as for the rewards, the numbers have changed a lot due to the change in the rewards system, as well as the fluctuations in the price of Hive. The APR for Staking has come down from 14% to 6% and the APR for HP Delegation surged from 15% to 8%!

With the current APR, one question is whether it still makes sense to delegation HP or stake ZING. That's something I have been pondering as well. Right now, I am still keep my HP delegation, since the primary purpose was to support @zingtoken and delegation rewards are secondary, and 8% is something I can sort of live with. As for staking, I am doing some unstaking so that I have more ZING to play with when there is volatility in prices since the staking rewards are not as attractive.

Over the past month, there were a lot of movements in my ZING holdings and the changes were due to (i) crazy amount of ZING from the Collection Rewards and, (ii) the usual accumulation through the APRs from HP Delegation and Staking, (iii) trading ZING due to the volatility of the price. With that, my current holdings of ZING have increased significantly from 15,192 in the last update to 16,899 currently.

As for myself, I have separated my holdings in two separate slices.

Delegation

For the delegation slice, I have delegated 100 HP to @zingtoken all the way since the claimdrop started on 21 Oct. From HP delegation and staking ZING, I have obtained a total of about 4,471 ZING, of which, I have sold 3,500 ZING at around 0.0053 Hive on average. Hence, I am left with about 971 ZING.

So let's put them into a table and see how the figures look like.

On a base of 100 HP, that's about 21% ROI over about 1 year and 3 months. If we were to annualise this figure, which isn't that meaningful (but purely for the purpose of generating an APR number), that's 17% APR.

Of course, the numbers will fluctuate wildly, depending on the increase or decrease in the HP delegation to @zingtoken.

Trading/Holding

For the trading slice, I have currently about 15,928 ZING, with some of them staked to get the staking APR. With the recent activities, a table is probably better to capture the ins and outs from an account perspective. And for once, the numbers look a lot better. Hehe.

Of course, I have excluded the 35.80 HBD spent on the Alpha Vials in this table, as this probably complicates the table. Let's see if the net gains can eventually offset the cost of my Alpha Vials. So that's so far the in and outs, which is done purely just to satisfy the statistical nerd in me. Haha.

What's next for me?

I think the crypto ecosystem, even in the Hive ecosystem, is very competitive. Lots of opportunities appear every now and then, and people often jump from one project to next. Personally, I don't think it's much of a concern for me, I will still looking for opportunities to buy (low) and sell (high), and at the same time, keep some ZING for the eventual launch of the HoloZing game, whenever it will be.

The price of ZING is something that I would watch very closely. As for the game development, I have already done my favourites/follows so I will continue to read them as they come.

Comment Rewarder (CR) is a bot that rewards comments. CR helps low-stake authors (and all authors) reward their audience. Not all blog authors have enough Hive Power to upvote replies to reach the dust threshold, and rewarding comments incentivizes engagement. Authors with lower Hive Power may not have a weighty enough vote to successfully reward replies to their posts because of the ~$0.02 “dust” threshold. CR solves this problem.
