The dog hoodie/ Der Hunde-Hoodie.

Hello once again to the NeedleWorkMonday community! I actually managed to take part in another Monday in your great community - and this time with a dog hoodie. As my flat was already overflowing with all the utensils for the dog coat, I thought to myself: why don't you turn this old sports jacket into a hoodie for the little four-legged friend?

The whole time I had in mind a kind of sporty, lightweight cape with a hood. Because what would a hoodie be without a hood, right? The fabric is not water-repellent, but it is certainly ideal for cool days without rain. I also had the idea of wrapping my little Wuffi in it after a bath so that he doesn't get a draught.

Hallo noch einmal in der NeedleWorkMonday-Community! Ich habe es tatsächlich geschafft, an einem weiteren Montag in eurer tollen Community teilzunehmen - und zwar diesmal mit einem Hunde-Hoodie. Da meine Wohnung schon mit allen Utensilien für den Hundemantel überquillt, dachte ich mir: Warum machst du nicht aus dieser alten Sportjacke einen Hoodie für den kleinen Vierbeiner?
Mir schwebte die ganze Zeit eine Art sportlicher, leichter Umhang mit Kapuze vor. Denn was wäre ein Hoodie ohne Kapuze, oder? Der Stoff ist zwar nicht wasserabweisend, aber für kühle Tage ohne Regen ist er sicher ideal. Außerdem hatte ich die Idee, meinen kleinen Wuffi nach dem Baden darin einzuwickeln, damit er keinen Luftzug bekommt.

Of course, it was great that my sports jacket provided enough fabric to make the hoodie. I also had some great scraps left over from my batwing top, which offered another opportunity to use and pimp the whole thing up a little.

Basically, I proceeded as follows: Firstly, I took all the pieces apart and looked to see what I could utilise and where. Then I cut out the pattern and simply worked through it like some coat routines - up to the hood. I simply removed the hood from the jacket and made it smaller. I then drew it in with a thread to gather, position and topstitch it. Admittedly, I wouldn't do it this way next time, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, isn't it?

Toll war natürlich, dass meine Sportjacke genug Stoff hergab, um den Hoodie zu fertigen. Von meinem Fledermausoberteil waren auch noch tolle Reste übrig, die hier eine weitere Anwendungsmöglichkeit boten und das Ganze ein wenig aufpimpten.
Im Grunde bin ich wie folgt vorgegangen: Ich habe erst einmal alle Teile zerlegt und geschaut, was ich wo verwerten kann. Dann habe ich den Schnitt zugeschnitten und einfach wie bei einigen Mantelroutinen abgearbeitet – bis zur Kapuze. Die Kapuze habe ich von der Jacke einfach entnommen und verkleinert. Anschließend habe ich sie mit einem Faden eingezogen, um sie zu raffen, zu platzieren und abzusteppen. Zugegeben, so würde ich beim nächsten Mal nicht vorgehen, aber probieren geht über studieren, nicht wahr?

The front of the hoodie looks a bit like a college jacket - and I don't think that's a bad thing at all. If I'd had a suitable iron-on button, it would have been on there long ago. LOOL! Or I would have to make one myself - that would be a great idea.

I planned the fastening with Velcro again. To do this, I made a panel on the inside of the fastening edge and attached it. I sewed the Velcro fastener onto this panel. The counterpart of the Velcro is on the other inside of the fastening edge so that both hems are parallel to each other and the college look is retained.

Von der Vorderansicht her hat der Hoodie ein bisschen etwas von einer Collegejacke – und das finde ich gar nicht so übel. Wenn ich einen geeigneten Bügelbutton gehabt hätte, wäre er längst darauf. LOOL! Oder ich müsste selbst einen anfertigen – das wäre doch eine tolle Idee.
Den Verschluss habe ich erneut mit Klettverschluss geplant. Dazu habe ich auf der Innenseite der Verschlusskante eine Blende gefertigt und angebracht. Auf diese Blende habe ich den Klettverschluss genäht. Das Gegenstück des Kletts befindet sich auf der anderen Innenseite der Verschlusskante, damit beide Säume parallel zueinander abschließen und der College-Look erhalten bleibt.
