I would not say it never happens, I know it doesn't happen with dishes. When she wants something, she simply says "I would really appreciate if you help me..." or something like that, and sometimes she says "You know what would make your wife really happy..."
But most of the time with her A-Type personality she does want it done if not right away then VERY soon :)

My wife uses those statements sometimes too which makes me wonder why she goes the question route at times.
I think this is something women might be learning for their mothers during their childhood and it stays with them forever...
