Introvert Talks - Sense Of Gratitude

Just two days ago, it was just another Monday for me.

After a long day at work, I logged onto Hive and decided that I had some time that evening to do a travel post on Worldmappin. It was a continuation of a series of posts on my recent trip to Europe.

I always enjoyed writing these travel posts because while going through the photos and selecting the nicer ones for the post, it would bring back pleasant memories of the trip, especially this one because such long and faraway trips are relatively rare for me.

And once I was done, I clicked "Publish" and went about the night replying to comments and voting some of the posts from friends and people that I followed.

As with all the posts, the votes will start to stream in over the next couple of hours. As friends would know, I do have a day job that pays me enough to feed me and settle my bills, and I have always seen Hive primarily as a hobby, and the vote rewards are secondary and of course good to have. Anyway, I didn't pay too much attention initially to the vote rewards because travel posts have historically ranged somewhere 5 to 20 most of the time and that's ok for me.

Throughout the day, I had notifications of votes coming in, and it was only later then I realised what actually happened. If you are curious, you can click here. I have never received so much votes in my entire 3+ years on Hive!!!

My feelings went from an initial stage of shock to happy (who wouldn't be?) to ultimately a sense of gratitude. The vote rewards were given to me by the Hive community, and every single vote counted. I have been writing relatively consistently on Hive for the past 3+ years, and my vote rewards haven't been that spectacular if you get what I mean, but I always believe in running my own race and there was no need to compare myself with other people. Moreover, vote rewards is not something not within my control so I did not see a need to be too particular about the numbers.

But what happened in this recent post kind of feels like a validation of my contributions to Hive community, and it served to be a form of encouragement and recognition. Till today, I still can't believe this happened, but I am immensely grateful and thankful that I set a personal record, a record that is given to me by the Hive community. To those people who have helped me in one way or another along this journey (you know who you are - too many of you to name individually), you are probably reading this post of mine too, thank you for your support and company in this space.

Finally, I believe this set of Hive rewards will go a long way to boost my Hive Power and my Vote Value, and in turn, I will be able to give back more to the Hive community through my curation as well.
