Introvert Talks - Making Room For Life

"Introvert Talks" is meant to be a new initiative or theme, where I myself as an introvert, just talk about reflections and thoughts about my life, or maybe share more personal stuff. :)

This is my weekly post under this "Introvert Talks" theme and let's see where it takes me and us.

Working less. Living more.
Lesser income. More time.

That's pretty much my life for past two months or so. Two months is actually quite a long time and I think I have adapted to this new routine.

I remembered spending a lot of time at the start figuring things out, and even at times, wonder if I have made the right decision to make this switch. But I know I am always an overthinker, while it's not a bad thing to worry a little, deep down, I know I am confident of managing this switch and financial trade-off.

Earlier this week, I went on a day trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with my parents. We did some shopping, ate some good food, and got some relaxing massages at the malls over there. It was a really enjoyable day for me. It has been a long while since I last travelled overseas with my parents (we usually chill at the local malls), and this trip made me realise how working less and having more time for myself and my loved ones mean. And it is days like these that reminded me why I chose this new path, and how work (and money) is just a tool and not the end goal in life.

I also had more time for myself, to engage in my existing and perhaps new hobbies. Some people around me often ask: What are you going to do? Won't you be bored?

I don't know about them, but they probably shouldn't doubt an overthinker and a planner. Hahaha. It has been about 2 months and I haven't been bored yet because there's so many things to do and explore. I had more time to exercise and I even visited the local swimming pool for a swim (can't remember when the last time I visited because there were always "excuses" like weather, time, accessibility, etc). I also explored more of the surrounding neighbourhood and visited new eateries to try out different food. Ironically, I also had more time to review my finances, and found ways to optimise stuff as well as read up more about the financial and crypto markets (of course it doesn't necessarily translate to better returns).

Ending with a photo that I took during one of my evening walks. It's taken at the Boat Quay area. Last time, I wouldn't have been able to admire the scenery at this time of the day because I probably would still be in the office, but now, I am able to. Sometimes, it's these little moments that make all the difference.
