Trying to see more clearly...

The markets have been kind of crazy lately. I'm really not sure what to make of it to be honest. There has been a ton of exciting and ground breaking things coming out of the crypto space lately, but just about everything seems to be a sell the news type of event. I just can't seem to get a handle on what might be happening. I've heard we still have a ways to go yet until alt season is in full swing, so I just plan on holding on until what I hope is somewhere in the vicinity of the top and maybe take some gains there.

I was recently prescribed glasses for the first time in my life. As I approach 50, I think that is quite the accomplishment. I grew up with my whole family wearing glasses because their eyes are so bad. The fact that I might have been adopted has definitely been batted around a few times. Honestly, I'm not sure I see a huge difference so far with the glasses. The optometrist told me these things were going to change my world, but so far things still seem a little blurry.

Kind of like crypto huh?

PXL_20250124_135344815.jpg

It's definitely going to take me a while to get used to them. Do I look smarter at all? More distinguished?

Do these glasses make my face look fatter?

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, @mrsbozz and I finally set an appointment to see a lawyer about estate planning at the end of this month. They sent me a six page document that needs to be filled out before we head to the office. I have to admit, it's pretty humbling to see your net worth laid out before you like that.

It's also pretty eye opening about how ill-prepared many of us are. There is a section we have to fill out about life insurance and though I know we have at least one policy somewhere, I don't know much about it or how much it even covers. We might also have some other policies here and there, but I honestly don't know.

I need to fix that!

Along with our traditional estate planning, I have been thinking for a while now that I need to have a more specific record of my crypto holdings. With tokens spread across chains and across wallets, it could be a nightmare for someone to unravel it all if something were to happen to me. The good news is, I have technical people in my life whom I trust to walk @mrsbozz through it if something unfortunate were to happen. As I said though, those people need to know where to look.

I also need to fix that!

Travala

Travala dropped a massive bomb on us the other day with the announcement that Trivago listings are now going to be available on their platform. This is pretty huge though I think it's more beneficial for existing users of Travala. I don't necessarily see it driving more folks to the platform, it just gives the folks who already use the platform more options.

The token has been a bit hit or miss lately, but I really think this is a project that I should have aped into a bit more. The fact that I didn't get the Tiger NFT is a big regret of mine.

I did happen to get their AVA airdrop on the Solana network a short time ago. It looks like I got about 60 tokens for my current position on Travala. I hope that one day I can move some gains into the platform and start taking advantage of the full benefits of my Platinum membership.

Holozing

By the end of next week I should be sitting at three quarters of a million ZING staked on the platform. That's kind of a big deal for me. Especially given the fact that I haven't bought a single token of that ZING. It has all been earned through delegation, staking, or the pool. Obviously, my ultimate goal is 1 million tokens staked, but I am not sure how that is going to be impacted once the game launches. I have a feeling I might end up burning through my staked ZING pretty quickly depending on how it is used in the game.

My luck something I spent a year or more building will be gone in days...

Splinterlands Advice

I'm still kicking around Splinterlands though we are still waiting for the next iteration of lands to be released. I've discovered over the past five years or so that my real joy in the Splinterlands game comes from Guild Brawls. I take part in them pretty much every chance I can.

image.png

I made the realization a while ago that my guild was really weak in terms of gold foil decks, so I made a concerted effort to pick up more cards in that area and consolidate the GF cards I did hold so I could fill that gap with my guild. These days, the gaps seem to come more in the Rebellion area, but I still think my original intent is sound.

There is a good chance if you are in a guild there are a ton of players that have the same cards. Those common frays can probably be filled by pretty much anyone. Instead, try to find frays that often go unfilled or have someone put in as a "placeholder". Once you have narrowed a fray or two down, start working on building up a deck that fits that frays restrictions, then play that deck and try to learn the ins and outs of it.

I still have a lot to learn about my deck, but I can usually accomplish an 80% win rate in most Brawls in the Silver GF fray I always join. Sure, some of those wins are because people couldn't fill the fray spot or users didn't submit a team, but 80% is still above average.

That's all I've got for this week. I hope you have an awesome weekend! Try to stay healthy! There is some nasty crap going around lately!

"Do these glasses make my face look fatter?"

Which answer will earn me better curation? :) For a reasonable fee - I can stop by your posts twice a week and make organic comments such as "Those glasses make you look distinguished" or "Hey buddy you losing some weight? You're looking sleek!"

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet soon and get glasses, I notice more typos, after posting now and I'm more likely to zoom up the display some. When I was a young man and a soldier I had 20/14 vision so it pains me to acknowledge my own mortality and diminishment.

Markets are going to be weird for a while, because of the Trump administration's shifting and rapid policy decisions. It should stabilize in another few months. I am predicting another season of mass protests though.

I don't remember what my eyes were, but my doctor always used to say they were perfect. We had some imaging done of our eyes when we were at the doctor and he said that we had sexy veins. For whatever that is worth! :) I've always been a pretty error prone typer, but I see it a lot more when I am on my phone now.

"No, I hit the 'O' button".

You have done very well not to have to wear glasses till now. We used to joke that people who don't wear glasses were lazy and never studied at school 😃

Last year we got our will sorted out as well. Originally I prepared a very complex matrix giving different % for different assets to 14 different people, I think the lawyer had a big shock. In the end I simplified it to one % for all our assets, but we didn't have to list out all the assets in the will. It will be whatever is left when we die, which with a bit of luck it won't be too much. Hopefully we would have had the chance to spend it all ourselves. All our descendants are will provided by their own parents, whatever they get from us will be the cherry on the cake for them.

0.00077076 BEE

That's kind of the way I think it will be for us. We don't have kids ourselves, so it will just be whatever is left going to our nieces and nephews.

0E-8 BEE

I've worn glasses since I was 12, so I had to go through some name-calling at school. Maybe it all the reading and later computer usage that did them in.

We definitely need plans for passing on crypto if something happens to us. Have to pass on the keys securely and instruct people on how to use them. I wrote up some notes for the family a while back, but will go through it with the kids some time.

I'm sure the fact that I sit behind a screen all day hasn't really helped my eyes. That's the main reason he gave me the prescription. I don't have to wear them any other time except when I am at the computer.

0.00001253 BEE

The glasses fit you well! You're lucky that you didn't have to wear them until almost the half-century mark. I tell you, this market is the strangest I've ever seen in my nine years in crypto. My best guess is the Wall Street firms are now holding enough BTC to be fully manipulating the market. We just seem to be perpetually stuck in this accumulation phase of the cycle. It's anyone's best guess how long this will continue. I really need to get my affairs in order too. This is a good reminder.

0.00064519 BEE

I'm just ready for alt season to start to see if I can do it better this time around than last time! Thanks for the compliment! It's taking me a bit to get used to them!

0.00000152 BEE

Unfortunately I don't have a dog in the race this time. We sold all of our alts last cycle. You're welcome! I started wearing glasses in the third grade and had some kind of corrective lenses until I got LASIK surgery in 2018. The hardest thing for me to get used to with glasses was the blurry peripheral vision. This was especially tough when playing sports.

0.00064519 BEE

Age catches us all on the glasses front. I had surgery to correct my vision while I was in the military, but right around 45 your arms cease to be long enough anymore and reading glasses become a must. You will see better with the glasses for sure!

I hope you get to take advantage of the changes in Travala, some very inexpensive travel? You have a nice stack of Holozing, I'm hoping the game does really well. Hive needs a big winner right now.

Splinterlands I'm doing the same, just the brawls now. I'm hoping they recover too, but SPS is slipping down again. Now that the HBD coming in daily is gone we'll see if they can survive on their own. I do hope so because I still have a lot of cards. Brawls are an easy way to get some extra SPS and Gladius cards. I finally managed to get my Quora to level three, that was a great feeling!

0.00064176 BEE

I don't think I even own a Quora, so you are doing much better than me. That reminds me, I need to pick up some Gladius packs. I hope Holozing does well too. It sound complex so far, but I think it will be fun to learn a new game. I've been using cheaters at night while I am on my phone for a bit now. It's just recently I got the official prescription! I'm hoping Travala continues to excel. Their token is still down from where I bought most of my stack, but we aren't in the heart of the bull yet, so we will see. I think Travala could be a good way to get some real world use out of my gains this cycle.

0.00056829 BEE

It's amazing what a difference glasses can make isn't it? Gladius packs are great, I've been trying to level them up for more than a year now and they are in many ways extremely useful in brawls. The one thing that worries me about Holozing is the talk about putting the healer cards on ETH like Runi. Having to buy an essential card on ETH would be a pain and expensive. We'll see!

This past week I had the best Gladius pack I've ever had, it was like Christmas came late! lol

Man, I have been wearing glasses since about the 3rd grade. Been wearing bifocals for a few years now. You are one lucky guy. Wiat until you start wearing hearing aids. LOL

0.00063980 BEE

My wife would probably love for me to be doing that. She says I don't listen all the time. It's definitely a change for me. These are progressive lenses from what they tell me.

I think what we are seeing now in crypto market is a period of consolidation where we chop around for a while after big run ups since 2022.

Splinterlands is at an interesting place right now. Assets are super cheap. Take SPS for example it is getting close to half a cent once again. We are at 2 billiion plus tokens released.

Almost a billion tokens is locked up in DAO, Almost a billion is staked! And only 100 million tokens is liquid. At half a cent it is only around $500k

All it would take is one whale to buy up the whole float and pump Dec before the new set is released to kick off a major rally.

0.00064040 BEE

Hurry up and wait seems to be the name of the game no matter what asset you are talking about.

That’s good you’ve gone this long without glasses but 50 is when it is likely going to happen regardless of many factors I’ve been learning.

You should try pencil pushups and bead string work for your eyes. Look it up! I actually reduced my prescription doing bead string work. It was really amazing to experience it! Another really important element to our eyes is consistent vitamin A supplements and taking at least 1k DHA/EPA daily. Our eyes are the biggest concentration of fats in our bodies.

It’s great you’ve done estate planning, that’s one of the things I learned from my parents a long time ago. They had fighting issues with their parents dying that nobody wants to have to deal with. We did our first estate planning 6 or 7 years ago which is great.

The markets are for sure acting odd! I wonder what the breakout is going to be for it.

0.00063232 BEE

I hope it happens soon. After waiting four years for this I am getting a bit tired of waiting even longer! That's some interesting info about the eyes. I will have to dig into it a bit deeper.

The idea of how to lay things out so whoever survives us can easily unravel our crypto is a daunting idea. I've thought about making a video walking through everything, but where to store it...? I've thought about encrypting it on the cloud and giving the password to my lawyer. I don't know. Yeah, I'm far from prepared.

0.00063911 BEE

Yeah, that's the big problem. If you make it too easily accessible, you risk exposing yourself to other problems. It's a hard thing to actually pin down!

0E-8 BEE

I like the glasses!

0.00051816 BEE

Thank you!

0E-8 BEE

Are you glasses for distance or "close encounters" or both? I have to wear glasses to be able to see anything that is close to me but i'm pretty fine as far as distance is concerned. Hopefully you only really need them for specific things because I really don't like the idea of needing to always be wearing specs.

0.00051004 BEE

Close up though the doctor said I would eventually need a different prescription for night driving. Right now I just need them when I am on the computer and I use cheaters at night when I am on my phone.

0E-8 BEE

cheaters... ha! I've never heard them referred to as such but that is the perfect name for them. I hate needing to always have my cheaters with me when I go places and that was the idea behind buying my real prescription glasses that I now never use

0.00050698 BEE

I really respect you an there is nothing you can do now you just have to accept the fact you are growing old one can't cheat death and more importantly always leave good record behind and you look good in those glassess

Thanks, I appreciate it!
