So today, Monday 15th of September, my kids resumed school, and let me tell you that the preparation leading to this day has been a lot, like, when people talk about back to school hustle, I really understand it now better, I had to make sure everything was set before the resumption because I seriously do not like last-minute stress at all, especially when it comes to my children.
The first thing I did was their school fees. That was the major thing on my head, and I thank God I was able to pay a bit ahead, at least that one gave me some peace of mind because once that is out of the way, every other thing can be adjusted gradually, for their books, instead of running around last minute, I just dropped enough money in advance with the school to cover all the book expenses, that one was like removing a big load off my chest too.
Now, about their things, I actually did not buy plenty this time around, I only got them new pairs of socks, because almost everything from the previous term is still in good shape, you know kids can still manage things like sandals, bags, and even lunch boxes for another term if they are not too bad, but I had already planned to buy my daughter a new school uniform this term, only that money was not available because of other expenses that just kept coming up, So for now, she is still managing her old one, but I know I still have to get her a new one before the term ends, that one is already on my list.
Then their clothes, omo, I washed and ironed them ahead of time, at least when the first day of school came, we didn’t have to start rushing to fix uniforms, I actually like it when everything is neat and ready because it gives me small joy seeing them step out in the morning looking sharp.
Feeding is another story on its own this month, see i won’t even lie, that one is my biggest challenge right now because bills are just plenty, Like, no matter how you plan, one thing or the other will just pop up and scatter the budget, but luckily my mom stepped in to help me with their feeding for now until I can balance myself well again, that one really relieved me because it is not easy to be thinking of lunch every day alongside other expenses.
So yeah, that’s basically how I have been preparing for their resumption, It wasn’t easy, but at least today when they wore their uniforms and left for school, I felt a little proud that I was able to set them up well enough, even though I didn’t get everything I planned like the new uniform, I still know I have done my best for now, and as the term goes on, I will keep ticking things off one by one.
So that's motherhood for you, planning, adjusting, and still hoping that everything will balance out in the end somehow.

Preparing everything is the busiest, while first day of school is like a war. Need to wake up early and prepare foods, also need to check if the school supplies is on the bag. It'₱ms amazing how a mother or a father can all do the prep especially with parents with more than one kids.
School shopping can be overwhelming, so it's good to use things that are still usable. In my case, my son grows too fast and always needs a new uniform every school year.

Oh the bills!
That is a common denominator with many of us regardless of country.
My kids attended a fine private school that worked miracles around both my son's learning problems and graduating with scholarships. I had to cash in a chunk of my Retirement savings funds but it was well worth it!

It's totally relatable how bills seem to pile up. It's so honest and real. It sounds like you did an amazing job getting everything sorted, and how wonderful that your mom could step in to help! 🙌
