Working in a radio station, I barely had off days, I wouldn't rule out the fact that I do have off days but it's once or twice in a month. By this time last year I was on shift, I worked all through the festive season. Although you can choose to take a break, and that is if and only if your colleague agrees to stand in for you, and that favour must be reciprocated. If not there's no deal, you go nowhere. I was on shift on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning before traveling. When I returned, I resumed work on New Yearβs Eve and continued on New Yearβs Day, just like it was any other normal workday.

Although I would always say the holiday this season differs for different jobs, I know of companies that would be closing early days of next week till the first week of January next year, but in a radio station you work round the clock (hierarchy might be a determining factor). One profession I respect the most are health care practitioners, those people never go on break. I saw videos of people lamenting about how others would be enjoying their Christmas but they would be at work working. In my mind I was like pleaseeee, who would take care of the sick? Mothers in labour and accident victims. We're sorry but you have to be on duty as a nurse, doctor, pharmacist or whatever category you fit in.
For this I hold them in high esteem (except the harsh one )
Thanks for stopping by my blog. See you soon. π€

I just wrote in my post that nobody should work on Christmas, and hey, I'd forgotten about the healthcare workers in hospitals. I completely agree with you on that.
They have to even though it's not really sitting well. They need to do a lot on that day and I appreciate them for that
Very few people stop to think about how many jobs never offer vacations. We must value everyone's time. Hugs!
