My Wellbeing, My Topmost Priority- LOH #283

If there's anything I dislike the most, it's falling sick. I'm sure no one does. When you're Ill, you'll depend on someone else for every little help. Which is one of the thingsI don't really like…being at the mercy of someone else. There was a time I fell sick some time ago during my youth service days. I was living alone then and my nextdoor neighbour had traveled, there was no one to help me and I couldn't help myself either.

It was a very difficult time for me. At that moment, I thought it was going to be the end for me. Thankfully, it was but a phase. That was when I truly understood the true meaning of “prevention is better than cure”.😀 Then, I truly realized how blessed one is, being in good health. I became more conscious of my body and mind. It goes beyond what goes into my mouth. So, for my daily total wellbeing routine my health and what I eat or drink is very important, though, it's not all there is for a better health.

Leading a balanced life requires proper care of the mind, body and soul. To live healthy, first of all, I try not to bear grudges. When I'm offended, I bear my mind and let it go. As it is nearly impossible for one to have a healthy life without peace of mind. I cherish my peace more than anything else.

Another healthy routine I practice daily is singing. The moment I rise up from my bed in the morning, I rise with a song. First, I sing in my mind before singing out. Singing lightens burdens and keeps anxiety away. Starting my day with gratitude not focusing on what the situation might be is therapeutic. This has gradually become a part of me, and I like it, to keep my mental health in check.

I take a lot of water, first, one glass first thing in the morning and more, during the day to help my body detoxify toxins naturally because the build up of toxins without detoxification is the major cause of illness, according to study. I do walk out a lot. It's not an easy task, but it costs nothing but time and sacrifice compared to treating ailments caused as a result of inaction or negligence.

Lastly, I don't take soft or carbonated drinks. Those things are the enemy to my health. It's been over a decade since I stopped it, and I've seen a tremendous positive effect in my health. And, most importantly, I rest whenever my body needs it, compulsorily, every weekend is for self care. Better health starts when one studies one's body system and knows what works and what doesn't and act accordingly.

It's time we started paying more attention to staying healthy, to avoid being sick, than treating illness, which even costs more.

Not holding grudges against another is a really good one, I'm glad you mention it. Some people think self-care is only about caring for your body, we have a lot of work to do on the mind too.
