Trigger warning: Those post contains some talk about medical abuse/neglect and tumors.
The good news: I found a good ortho/small ortho team who are helping me with the foot/ankle issues. I was lucky to find someone who is also a researcher.
The bad news: he is the 4th (and his assistant. the 5th) doctor who has no idea what the lump on my foot is. He is very concerned about it. So concerned he is fast tracking me through Hopkins oncology.
He said the mass is solid, so it's not something simple like bursitis. I need an immediate biopsy and more tests. The urgency and how quickly they are moving on this is ...a bit concerning.
Yes the same lump the podiatrist said nothing about but did put that he advised me to get a biopsy during the appointment in my file. He did not. I only found out about this reading my file.
3 months I lost because of this podiatrist not doing his job. Not even touching the lump to feel that is is hard, not fluid. The ortho said I don't have months to delay these tests. The radiologist report on the MRI also mentioned a biopsy.I don't have my full medical records form the podiatrist or x rays yet either (this is against the law). But the new ortho took fresh xrays.
Cancer in the foot like this is extremely rare, especially at my age. Though strange /rare cancers are not really uncommon in my cluster of illnesses due to immune dysfunction. I personally don't think that it is cancer but the urgency in which this ortho is moving does have me wondering.
I think it's some manifestation of the autoimmune issues I have that are attacking my connective tissues. The lump is surrounding a specific tendon. I think it's a benign immune reaction to the injures in my connective tissues. there is already evidence of calcification around other tendons in my feet/ankles. This might just be a really big one. lol.
I got a text from Hopkins within hours of my appointment with the ortho. I will know more this week once I have an appointment date.
I want the lump removed regardless of what it is. It's starting to pinch nerves in addition to a tendon. There is also bone degradation where that big toe connects to the foot. So whatever the lump is I will need surgery and it will be a somewhat complex surgery but not anything too risky.
