Hello Ladies of Hive!

This Prompt 1 it's what i will go for. A lavish Masquerade meetup? Imagine all of us in fine fine costumes, with wine, with small chops, with loud music and everybody fine like queen.

If that happens, I will dress as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Yes, our own Anambra sister. The woman that made us believe that a woman can talk and the whole world will stop and listen.

Why Chimamanda?

Because when I was in secondary school for Onitsha, I hated reading. I thought books were for bookworms. Then my aunty gave me "Half of a Yellow Sun" and "Purple Hibiscus". I opened it and I did not drop it until I finished. For the first time, I saw a girl like me inside a book. A girl that is Igbo, that is stubborn, that is asking questions, that is not keeping quiet because society says so.

Chimamanda taught me that my voice is not too loud. That my story matters. That even if I am selling small things for market, or staying inside house for Awka, I can still write and people will hear me.

So for that Masquerade Ball, I will not wear heavy crown or big armor. I will wear simple red lipstick, low-cut hair, Ankara long gown with bold earrings - exactly how she dresses. And I will hold a book, not a sword. Because my own weapon now is pen, is keyboard, is my story on Hive.

I want to walk into that ball and people will say "Ah, this one came as intelligence, as confidence."

Chimamanda once said "We should all be feminists". On that night, I want my dress to say "We should all be confident women".

That is who I will be.

Ladies, if you see me that night, please shout "Adichie!" I will answer.
