Hello everyone
When I think about Korea, the first thing that comes to my mind is Hanbok. Hanbok is the traditional Korean dress, and it is one of the most beautiful clothes I have ever seen. It is not just clothing, it is history, culture, and pride of the Korean people.
Hanbok has very bright colors. The women usually wear a long wide skirt called chima and a jacket called jeogori. The men wear wide pants called baji with their own jacket. The shapes are soft, round, and flowing. When people walk in Hanbok, it looks like they are moving with the wind.
I love how Hanbok makes people look elegant but also very simple. In the past, Koreans wore it every day. But today, they mostly wear it on special days like New Year (Seollal), weddings, or Chuseok (harvest festival). Many young people also rent Hanbok to visit places like Gyeongbokgung Palace, and they take beautiful photos there. I think it makes them feel connected to their ancestors.
What I find most amazing is how Hanbok shows respect. The design is made to cover the body in a modest way, and the bow on the jacket often shows good wishes and blessings. The colors also had meaning. For example, in old Korea, white was the most common color because Koreans loved purity. Red, blue, and yellow were also important, showing balance in life.
Even though modern fashion is everywhere now, Koreans still love their Hanbok. I think that is beautiful, because it means they don’t forget their roots. Hanbok is more than a dress. It is a story of Korea itself.
One day, I wish to wear Hanbok and walk around a Korean palace like in the movies. Maybe then, I will feel the spirit of Korea living in me too.
