Hello everyone! I wish you a very happy sunday, a new week and a blissful day at the same time 🥳. Today is a special day because most of is would be home and not doing so much or no work at all, thats why i took out this time to write because we can all sit and read at our most convienient time. Today’s lesson is very simple but important, as long as you are not a native english speaker these common mistakes are bound to happen.
This is a very relatable English lesson many learners struggle with but i will make it very simplified.

I want us to look at the differences between hear and listen. They sound similar and mean same thing but they are very different and are supposed to be used differently tho we mistake one for the other most times, well we will know better today.
Not everyone knows that hearing happens naturally but listening requires attention. So you can see that they are really 2 different things but so similar at least they involve your ears and conversation or sounds.
People often confuse the words hear and listen, while speaking and even in writing, its not a bad thing as humans are not expected to know it all. Now let me explain one difference. Hearing happens automatically, without your consent or energy for example if someone speaks near you, you hear the sound whether you want to or not but for listening it is totally different. Listening means you are intentionally paying attention to what someone is saying it is the higher level of hearing, to me they are both like awareness and understanding, you can know something but not understand so hearing needs all your attention, will, consciousness. Giving a listening ear is more respectful and appreciative than just hearing.

I can hear music outside.
But I am not listening to it, read this line 3x, youll understand the concept of listening and hearing.
I hope that little stuffy air has been cleared and now we have a better control over our LEXIS & STRUCTURE.
Thanks for reading 🙏
