Alice In Borderland S3 Review

This is one TV series I anticipated just the way I anticipated Squid Game 2 and 3, and I must say, this series delivered and it’s worth the hype it’s getting.

The series’ season 3 started with Arisu and Usagi married and living happily. I love to see them married. But Usagi, just as she has been seeing her dead dad in her dreams, continues to see her dad anytime she sleeps, and that makes her buy the idea of returning to the world where they had the games in season 1 and 2. She finally bought the idea when a professor, RJ, who has been interested in knowing the happenings of the afterlife, convinced her to do so.

Arisu, upon hearing that his wife had returned to the world of the game, decided also to go back because he feared that his wife might not return alive. He met Ann, one of the survivors of season 2 game, who knew more about the situation, and she told Arisu that all he needed was just 2 minutes of unconsciousness to go into the world of the game and return before the 2 minutes elapsed.

As for me, among all the games, the first game that had flying arrows is the most intriguing. It was basically about survival instincts and needed little or no luck to survive. The last 1 billion arrows would have killed all of them if they hadn’t found a way to leave the scene.

The other games were entertaining and intriguing as well but didn’t match the tempo of the first game. The one I think comes next to the first game is the one they played inside the train, and that was really full of suspense because it was based on luck.

But there are shortcomings too. While watching the series, even without reading reviews, I just knew that Arisu and Usagi were going to survive the games, at least up to the last game. The CGI in the last phase of the game, namely the flooding, was somewhat too artificial, and I couldn’t clearly understand how the flood came about, crashing down the buildings with the “lake of death” idea.

But in all these, the characters were good and excellently acted their roles. RJ, who couldn’t walk, at a point I hated him because of the idea he had in his mind, and through all that, Usagi was helping him all along.

At the end, there was a USA version teaser, and I hope it comes to pass and not just remain a tease with no intention of producing it in the future.

Thanks!
