RE: The Lord of the Rings - The Rings of Power makes a spectacular return! Get ready to return to Middle-earth!

Warcraft games had similar characters to LotR and other works by Tolkien from the very beginning. Blizzard wouldn't be able to use names from those works (copyright and everything) and sure had been developing their own lore for Warcraft. At the same time, neither the LotR movies nor Amazon's show had been entirely faithful adaptations of Tolkien's work - the latter can be considered a fan fiction rather than adaptation. With that said, my line of thinking is that rather than trying to put on screen something of Tolkien that would be better than nothing at all, the collaboration between Amazon and Blizzard could have had potential to result in jointly developed franchise, ideally bringing to the screen battles and war strategies worth remembering, drawing from Blizzard's knowledge base of player experience and expectations. While it's true the Rings of Power show manage to retain Tolkien's tone to a large extent imo, it simultaneously fails with the battle scenes and design. There could have been a lot of potential to generate interest and engagement from player base of Blizzard games. This could still be a great idea for a spin-off series imo.
