Hello everyone! It's been raining all over the weekend in our part of the world. We have no choice but to stay at home and avoid getting stuck in the rain outside. I spent the weekend watching the new mystery thriller series on Netflix, Untamed.

Untamed is a six episode mystery thriller set in Yosemite National Park. It stars Eric Bana who I saw in pre-MCU Incredible Hulk (2003) . The movie starts in a dizzying mountain climbing scene when suddenly a girl plummets to her death and gets caught up in the mountain climbers's ropes, almost taking them down. We then spend the movie discovering what happened to the girl, about her past and who killed her. We also discover about Kyle Turner's (Eric Bana) past along the way. The cases he had previously and how it connects to the story.
Eric Bana as Kyle Turner - A federal agent with a haunted past. He's got the people skills of Dr. House and reminds me of a difficult colleague. He's good at his job though as a detective/wildlife expert. He's haunted by a past tragedy that he can't move on from, reminds me of Mel Gibson on Lethal Weapon I.
Lily Santiago as Naya Vasquez - A rookie ranger who moved from L.A. She has her own issues from L.A. she's escaping from. She partner's with Kyle making this series like a buddy-cop movie.
Sam Neill as Paul Souter - Turner’s boss, a steady presence who has his own secrets that was revealed in the finale.
Wilson Bethel as Shane Maguire - This guy looked familiar and I realized he's Bullseye from the Daredevil series. He plays another wildlife expert who has links to Turner's past.

I like watching series like this with few (6) episodes. The last one I watched was another thriller mystery, Department Q. I was expecting Untamed to be somewhat like it but there are a lot of differences. The setting of Untamed is in a sprawling national park. I kinda like settings like this which reminds me of First Blood and Predator. Nature is beautiful but it has its own danger if you're not careful. Kyle Turner shows his expertise in tracking as he backtracks what the girl's path, finding the items she drops and several clues along the way. It's good enough to watch on weekends where you have nothing better to do but I wouldn't say it's a must-watch. The brooding main character lacks humor and I felt that the series dragged on and got boring in some parts. It was only in the fifth episode that we got some action. The sixth episode could have ended halfway through but set up another twist which I felt unnecessary.
Sounds like a pass then on that one. There's bound to be something more rewarding on that this one. Thanks for your take on the series!
