The Numbers Station is a 2013 American action thriller film starring John Cusack and Malin Akerman The film tells the story of a CIA agent who works in a secret station that broadcasts encrypted numbers to intelligence agents around the world The film combines action and suspense but lets say that the experience was average.
First of all the story itself is interesting The idea of secret stations that broadcast encrypted numbers is a relatively new idea in cinema and this made me excited to see the film Unfortunately the execution was not up to expectations The film moves slowly at times and this makes the events feel a bit boring although there are moments of really good tension.
John Cusack who plays the lead role gave a respectable performance as usual but he needed a stronger script to appear better His role was of someone tired from his work and life and this was clearly shown in his acting but at times it was repetitive and there was nothing new in it On the other hand Malin Akerman played her role decently but her character still didnot have enough depth.
The most missing thing in the movie was the action Although the movie is classified as action and thriller the action scenes were few and not as strong as one would expect There was more focus on dialogue and psychological tension but the action that was present wasnot influential or noticeable.
The decor and cinematography were good especially since the movie was filmed in a secret underground station which added an atmosphere of isolation and tension The soundtrack was decent and suitable for the atmosphere of the movie but its not something that sticks in the memory after the movie ends.
The Numbers Station is a movie that you can watch if you want something light and fast of the action and thriller type but its not one of the movies that you will remember for a long time The movie presented a good idea but the execution wasnt up to expectations and thats what made it an average movie nothing more.
