The moment I saw the prompt of the week, vagabond came to mind. Vagabond is a Korean Series (16 episodes) with so much suspense. Since after seeing the movie in 2020, I admit that it is the only Korean Movie that still has me wondering what happens next till date.
So in the movie, Cha Dal-gun who is a stunt man takes it personal to uncover the truth of a plane crash that took the life of his young nephew and along the line he soon joins forces with a female NIS agent (National Intelligence Service) Go Har-ri who was also on the case.
Right from the beginning of this movie, till the end only thrills, suspense and action. At some point my heart would race a little maybe because the duo were almost being caught up or almost close to the truth.
However, their fight was more political even upto the presidential level and only when they thoght they were close to uncovering the truth did they uncover the master mind of the crash. Their lives were now totally at risk as they had to fight government officials at different levels.
In the movie, there are many parts I found interesting but the most interesting was the part where they had to avoid the bad eggs in the NIS from Morocco to Korea while bringing the evidence of plotted crashing to court. They faced many obstacles and that was the part that really got me thrilled as they overcame all attempt to stop them.
One other part I found interesting was when the NIS had to send some agents to Morocco to verify and bring back the co pillot who survived the crash.
One of the scences that still pops to mind is the scene where Cha Dal-gun could have been burnt to death by the top cartel controlling government but somehow, he still survived. Actually his death would have brought about the end of the movie but the scenes where he prevailed in the face of death are exceptional in my mind
Cha Dal-gun's performance was over the roof. At some point I forgot that it was just acting. He had alot of energy and was a determined type. It was as though I could relate to his strugggle of uncovering the truth. I love his persistent spirit in the movie even when he was suposed to be weak.
When I relate with K-Drama watchers around me who have not seen Bagabond, I usually ask them, what have you been watching? I belive that the movie is a must watch as it relates how political some supposed accidents might be while causing harm/loss to the masses. The movie is significant to me because of how it poses the determination to reveal the truth regardless of political atempts to cover it.
I love Vagabond because their is alot to learn from it. It is not like the conventional K Drama that ends with love rather it ended in suspense. I also love that the movie wasn't only casted in Korea but Morocco and Portugal.
To me, this is the best Korean thriller and movie I have ever made and seen. I really hope a 2nd season would come up soon.
