Hello and welcome to the 47TH edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. The Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun in a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community and showcase the work of deserving authors.

And it’s all simple. Every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style, and word count. It is not a contest, but just our way of creating exposure for the works we enjoyed throughout the week and boosting exceptionally written content by our authors. Simply put, give it your best and have fun while at it, and then we showcase your work here.

So, in no particular order, here are the authors spotlighted for this week:

Title: Ballerina || An Action Thriller Film

ball.jpg

The action scenes were undoubtedly the strongest parts of this film with impressive choreography and a variety of creative fight scenes. I remember thinking to myself “now this is how properly acted out action scenes should look like”. Eve's resourcefulness, determination, fierceness and motive make her an even more compelling protagonist. While the action scenes were excellent, some subplots were less appealing. Plots like Eve's relationship with her estranged sister or Eve's budding relationship with a fellow Ruska Roma in training.

Title: K-pop Demon Hunters

Some movies entertain you and others impress you, so yeah, there are movies and there are movies. Kpop Demon Hunters is a movie. I didnt expect to enjoy the movie this much. The title alone felt funny to me, kpop Demon Hunters? Really? And honestly I only pressed play out of curiosity, and with a "Let's see how ridiculous this get" thought in mind. But somewhere between the glittery stages and intense fight scenes, I got pulled in so deeply that after the movie ended, I started fighting the urge to rewatch the movie from start again. I've never hit replay on a movie that fast before.

Title: Dear Old Liam!!!

liam.jpeg

And what’s this I’m talking about? It’s old men taking on action roles. Roles and stunts that normally would have gone to younger men, older men take them and knock it right out of the ballpark. Liam Neeson is known for this. He has always been an action star, but ever since he starred in the Taken trilogy, he’s been in a string of action movies back-to-back. In all of them, he’s either kicking serious butt, or he’s getting his butt kicked. And personally, I don’t have an issue with this because I enjoy his movies. But watching Ice Road: Vengeance, I began to see that just maybe, our beloved action star is no longer as vibrant and as bulletproof as he used to be.

Title: When the Phone Rings

This movie got me rooted to my seat and my eyes glued to my screen from the very first episode. The acting and cooperation of the actors were clearly expressed. The right emotions for each scene were also reflected by the actors and this made the movie an enjoyable one. With only 12 episodes,I wished for it not to end. There were episodes where I shed tears because of how emotional those scenes were. One of such scenes was when Hong Hee-joo was pushed off a cliff and I 6thought she had lost her life but surprisingly, she survived with minor injuries.

Title: Eragon

eragon.jpeg

For me, it is a good movie because it gives me the memories that even till now, I have not forgotten. The movie started well but it looks like when the movie was about to end, it start to lose its momentum. I also wished there were more scene where the magic was displayed much more than when there is a fight. Also I believe the storytelling should not have been rushed. In fact, with the storyline, I believe the movie should be acted in seasons so that it will give the viewers that perfect opportunity to actually enjoy the movie to the fullest.

Title: Terminator 2: Judgement Day

judge.png

Beyond the numbers, Terminator 2 changed the way science fiction films were made. It showed that the genre could be both intellectual and commercial, and that special effects—used purposefully—could serve the story rather than drown it out. In comparison, many current films, replete with excessive CGI and sloppy scripts, pale in comparison to its legacy. Terminator 2 was not only pioneering; was, and remains, unsurpassed.

Title: Love Next Door

love.jpg

Their journey overtime rekindled, from platonic relationship to a romantic connection. However Seung-hyo later discovered by chance that Seok-ryu was diagnosed with cancer while she was overseas and 70% of her stomach was gone which was also the reason why her engagement was called off. Seung-hyo was devastated alongside her family, but did love really conquer all? Did Seung-hyo's love for her still remain unwavering? I want to praise and appreciate how balanced this series was throughout. You could be crying this minute and laughing at silly lines the next minute, lol.

Title: Land of Bad

bad.jpg

On the surface, Land of Bad doesn’t break new ground. The isolated soldier relying on a voice in his ear to survive is a familiar trope. But what lifts the film is the magnetic presence of its cast. Liam Hemsworth, often in the shadow of his brother Chris, continues to prove himself as a capable leading man. In Land of Bad, his performance conveys real fear and vulnerability, while also charting a believable arc of growth and survival. Russell Crowe, portraying Reaper, is refreshingly restrained mostly.
