Cine TV Community Spotlight #28

Hello and welcome to the 28TH edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. The Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun in a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community and showcase the work of deserving authors.

And it’s all simple. At the end of every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style, and word count. It is not a contest but just our way of creating exposure for the works we enjoyed throughout the week and boosting exceptionally written content by our authors. And it's really the social commentary, is so deep and it is talking about the class and the structure of who we are as people and what makes us content. And are we able to be satisfied with what we have or do we constantly have to chase something else? And then if somebody else has something that we don't, does that make them wrong? It doesn't make us wrong. Bong Joon-ho is asking that question of, you know what? If there is a divide in class, is that necessarily a bad thing?

I was scrolling through TikTok some days ago what I came across an edit of this movie I'm about to review. I was so awed by what was portrayed in the edit but like other awesome edits I've come across on that app, I scrolled past it. It wasn't until few days after, I met somebody and we both decided to exchange movies. This particular movie was among those she gave me and it felt like the universe wanted me to watch it by all means. I watched Cruella, a 2021 American revenge drama and here's my review on it.

The beginning of the film, and even through a lot of it, there is this manic feeling to it. It is chaotic, and it is rushed, and it is just hyperactive. What that does is it puts us into the mindset of Jorge. And as I'm watching, I'm getting slightly annoyed. Not at the film, but just like there's a high-pitched tone playing someplace, and it's agitating me. That's what was happening when I'm watching this because it is so frenetic. The pace is so fast.

Title: Hellbound Season 2

When the release of season two was announced and finally premiered on October 25, 2024, I was so curious. However, I was not chanced to watch it immediately, so I read reviews instead. To my disappointment, many reviews suggested that one should rewatch season one before diving into season two—unless one wants to think even harder than the scriptwriter! This hints at how season two seemed almost disconnected from season one, rather than following a natural continuation of the story.

Title: Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse

At this point; I don't know what to call it. I am watching everything whilst I have a future I need to plan/ go to war for. Ugh the pandemonium man. The freaking pandemonium. Anyways I sat down today in front of a tv to rewatch Spiderman:into the spider verse. I did that and I can't get the sunflower song out of my head. Loved that song so much back in the day. Still do now. Still do. That year, it was the best animation I ever saw with my eyes. Miles...Miles was my man.

Title: Novocaine: What Happens When You Cannot Feel Pain

After a brief discussion with the friend about the congenital disorder that affects the nervous system, I asked my own questions, leading with “where did you hear about this condition from”. I was intrigued because the condition is a very rare one that isn't really talked about, with only a few hundred cases world wide. The friend said he only just heard about it courtesy of a movie. My successive question was “which movie?”. It turns out that the title of the movie is Novocaine which sounds very similar to cocaine. One can only imagine how fast I assumed the plot of this movie with the little information I got.
