TOGETHER: I can't Live without you

Now please don't judge me based on my movie taste but what if you stumbled upon a movie that took the word "I can't live with out you" seriously. It's who else other than your fav, Abeegail, welcome to my blog, and today I'm gonna traumatized you, so please if you don't have thick skin please scroll because I'm back with a horror movie that would leave you asking "what the hell did I just watch"

Together, a 2025 movie, written and directed by Michael Shanks, is a supernatural body-horror film starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco as Millie and Tim, a couple with a relationship on thin ice, who moves to the countryside in hopes for a fresh start but is met with some thing more disturbing and unsettling. After a hike gone wrong, the fund themselves in a very weird cave and encounter a very mysterious supernatural entity, which causes changes to their body in a way that Love with makes them physically inseparable.

Tim and Millie have been together for years, but aren't at the same point in their lives, Millie is a teacher and she wants to move to the next point of her life, while Tim is still stuck in highschool, try to live his pipe dreams of becoming a superstar, he is still finding himself and struggles with directions, and this creates tension in the relationship. Millie wants something long term and Tim is not so sure, you can clearly see that they are in love, but sometimes love is not enough, it doesn't make the problems disappear. The move was supposed to ease that tension but made it worse as the supernatural force is threatening the concept of personal space and boundaries

Now I don't think I explained what I meant by physically inseparable, maybe I shouldn't, it should be for you to watch for yourself, that's if you love disturbing things. The visual of the body merging is not only horrifying but also disgusting too and I loved every second of it (wait....hope that doesn't make me sound creepy). Like I said don't watch if you don't have thick skin. The visual will leave you wondering why the human body has so much leeway to be horrific.

What is more horrifying than this is the fact that this movie exposes the fact that, we don't have control of our bodies like we think we do. The human body is so unpredictable most times, you could get sick, age and do think under the guide of fight or flight. And I think it is scary that, as much as they tried to fight it.

What i loved about the movie was how creative they got with the phrase being "one" with someone. The took the romantic feeling of being together, knowing someone intimately, finding your other half and spin it into something sinister and disturbing, who way too much intimacy and lack of personal boundaries could affect relationships.

Okayyy, the performances is just as important as the plotline is. Dave Franco and Alison Brie gave a stellar performance in this movie. The had to show affection, while still being frustrated at the same time. The back and forth from love, to panic, to confusion was a very complicated thing to pull off, but they did, as they have to communicate fear, discomfort, and loss of control through their bodies as well as their expressions, adding to the believability of the movie.

The only critique I will give is that the movie pushes the body horror more that the underlying emotional development, the film has the underlying theme of commitment and codependency, which isn't really explored but symbolically represented by the body horror, which sort of overwhelmed the whole thing. And while the imagery is amazing, it might be too much for viewers who aren't comfortable with such vivid and disturbing imagery.

In all, I would definitely recommend Together but only if you enjoy body horror so uncomfortable that it makes your skin want to turn inside out. Just be warned that this is no romantic movie about learning how to communicate and interdependence, this involves some shitty supernatural force with a zero tolerance to personal space.
