Source code of Crypto Space 77 (new lightweight hive frontend) is now available on GitHub. Allows you to run a hive client on your own PC.

Ich habe den Source Code von @cryptospace77 jetzt auf github unter der MIT-Lizenz veröffentlicht und auch einen offiziellen hive account angelegt.

Die MIT-Lizenz ist am wenigsten einschränkend und gewährt ein Maximum an Freiheit für alle Nutzer und ist daher in der Bitcoin und Krypto-Community die beliebteste Lizenz.

Das bedeutet, ihr könnt den Source Code jetzt nach belieben downloaden, anpassen und auch kommerziell weiterverwenden.

Lediglich ein kleiner Hinweis auf den Ursprung wäre nett.

Das Besondere der cryptospace77 App ist, dass ihr den Code relativ leicht auf eurem eigenen PC ausführen könnt, auch unter Windows.

Dazu müsst ihr Python installieren und das beigefügte server.py Skript starten. Das war's und die App dann im Browser öffnen.

Damit wird es auch generell schwieriger Zensur auf der Frontend-Ebene durchzuführen, da wenn man die App lokal betreiben kann, nicht mehr auf einige wenige Anbieter beschränkt ist.

Die Zensur müsste dann auf API-Server-Ebene oder bei den Witnesses stattfinden, was deutlich schwieriger wird.

Andererseits ist das Betreiben der API Server aufwändig und kostspielig.

Wäre wünschenswert, wenn es auch mehr API Server geben würde. Würde hive wachsen, würde es vermutlich mehr Server geben, aber natürlich auch der Moderations-Druck zunehmen. Ist wie immer ein Katz und Maus-Spiel.

I have now published @cryptospace77's source code on GitHub under the MIT License and also created an official hive account.

The MIT License is the least restrictive and grants maximum freedom to all users, making it the most popular license in the Bitcoin and crypto community.

This means you can now download, modify, and even use the source code commercially as you see fit.

It would just be nice if you included a small reference to the source if you reuse it.

What makes the cryptospace77 app special is that you can run the code relatively easily on your own PC, even on Windows.

To do this, you’ll need to install Python and run the included server.py script. That’s it, then just open the app in your browser.

This also makes it generally more difficult to implement censorship at the front-end level, since if you can run the app locally, you’re no longer limited to just a few providers.

Censorship would then have to take place at the API server level or with the witnesses, which becomes significantly more difficult.

On the other hand, operating API servers is time-consuming and costly.

It would be desirable if there were more API servers. If Hive were to grow, there would likely be more servers, but of course the pressure to moderate content would also increase. As always, it’s a game of cat and mouse.
