Introducing Hive Rewards Tracker, a new vibe-coded hive app that tracks your monthly claimed rewards

Habe meine erste Hive-Crypto-App mit grok vibe-gecoded, ein kleines Tool, um seine monatlichen geclaimten Rewards auf der Hive Blockchain zu tracken, was zum Beispiel für die Steuererklärung sehr nützlich sein kann.

Die App läuft lokal im Browser und nutzt dabei die Hive API, um die Claim-Operationen zu tracken, was eine sehr aufwendige Operation sein kann, wenn man eine großen Zeitraum tracken will, und man sehr aktiv auf der Blockchain ist.

Zu beachten ist, dass die App die geclaimte Hive Power (HP) nicht mit dem historischen Wert zu dem Zeitpunkt des Claims, sondern mit dem aktuellen Wert in Hive inkl. Zinsen, die sich seit dem angesammelt haben, angibt. Vorausgesetzt man hat kein Power-Down (Unstake) gemacht.

Das hat einen technischen Grund, da die Blockchain für das Staking intern nicht mit Hive rechnet, sondern mit einer eigenen Einheit Vest genannt, und die API leider nicht die historischen Werte liefert und ohne API-Unterstützung die Berechnung leider sehr aufwendig wäre, da man die gesamte Blockchain herunterladen bzw. einen HAF-Server (Hive SQL Server) betreiben müsste, um die historische Berechnung akkurat durchführen zu können.

Die Zinsen auf HP sind nämlich nicht fix, wie ich anfangs gedacht habe, sondern variable und hängen von den aktuell gestakten Hive ab und betragen etwa 3% p.a.

Das sollte man beachten, wenn man die Statistik zum Beispiel für die Steuererklärung verwenden möchte. Die Hive Power-Werte wären dann für ein Jahr etwas höher und würden bereits die Verzinsung widerspiegeln.

Um die Hive-Power-Problematik zu lösen, wäre meiner Meinung nach ein HAF / Hive API Update notwendig, um die historischen Werte direkt auf API-Ebene zu berechnen.

Noch ein paar Gedanken zu Vibe-Coding. Bin geflasht, wie gut das mittlerweile funktioniert. Konnte die gesamte App mit ein paar Dutzend Prompts vibe-coden, wobei der Compute-Aufwand teilweise gigantisch war und mehrere Minuten für einen einzigen Prompt benötigt hat. Je größer die App und das Context-Fenster desto schwieriger wird Vibe-Coding, wobei diese Grenze aber immer weiter nach oben verschoben wird. Ist unglaublich.

I vibe coded my first Hive crypto app using grok, a small tool for tracking your monthly claimed rewards on the Hive blockchain, which can be very useful for your tax statements, for example.

The app runs locally in the browser and uses the Hive API to track claim operations, which can be a very time-consuming process if you want to track a long period of time and are very active on the blockchain.

Please note that the app displays the claimed Hive Power (HP) not based on the historical value at the time of the claim, but rather based on the current value in Hive, including interest that has accrued since then—assuming you haven’t performed a power-down (unstake).

There’s a technical reason for this: internally, the blockchain doesn’t use Hive for staking calculations but rather its own unit called Vest, and unfortunately, the API doesn’t provide historical values at the moment. Without API support, the calculation would be very time-consuming, as you’d have to download the entire blockchain or run a HAF server (Hive SQL Server) yourself to perform the historical calculation accurately.

The interest on HP is not fixed, as I initially thought, but variable, it depends on the currently staked Hive and amounts to about 3% per annum.

This is something to keep in mind if, for example, you want to use the statistics for your tax return. The Hive Power values would then be slightly higher for a year and would already reflect the interest earned.

To resolve the Hive Power issue, I believe a HAF/Hive API update would be necessary to calculate the historical values directly at the API level.

A few more thoughts on Vibe coding. I’m blown away by how well it works now. I was able to Vibe-code the entire app with a few dozen prompts, though the computational effort was sometimes enormous and took several minutes for a single prompt. The larger the app and the context window, the more difficult Vibe coding becomes, though this limit is constantly being pushed higher. It’s incredible.
