Banks in the EU start promoting crypto? Oh wow. Was this the hidden plan behind MiCA (EU regulation)?

(edited)

Was sagt ihr dazu?

A turning point for European banks, Easybank in Austria is promoting investments in crypto ETFs (actually ETPs, or Exchange-Traded Products) through securities accounts. With ETPs, cryptocurrencies can be bought, held, and easily reported for tax purposes just like stocks. In addition to Bitcoin, supported cryptocurrencies include Litecoin, Ethereum, Solana, Ripple, and even Telegram’s Gram, for example.

I think one consequence of the restrictive MiCA regulation in the EU could be that banks will become crypto asset service providers in the future and might even offer cryptocurrencies themselves, not just through ETFs, but by allowing customers to hold cryptocurrencies and European stablecoins directly in their bank accounts.

That would then create additional competition for the remaining crypto exchanges in the EU that were able to obtain a MiCA license.

What do you think? Do you think banks in the EU could jump on the crypto-asset bandwagon and become crypto exchanges themselves? Was that the goal of MiCA—to enable banks to trade in cryptocurrencies?

Finally, the future is for digital currencies and all governments and banks must accept it
