True. I always upvote own posts. It used to be a default setting but was sub-optimal due to reverse auction we had (so upvoting your own post at the very time of voting made you lose your curation rewards due to anti-bot penalty, so it was made optional so user could chose when to vote)

More over, self voting top level posts by default on chain level could have a positive effect because those who post low effort posts would also automatically "bid" on it risking down votes (unless declined rewards).

Where you active before the payouts went live? When part of the post rewards would automatically go to comments?

bit random but wasn't sure how early you were and some discussions earlier in another comment on this post made me wonder

either way, we have a similar service as that now with @commentrewarder ^^
