RE: Can Liketu Be Hive's Answer To Appics?

Am a photographer lover, having it simple without having to write ✍ 500 words about it to be considered quality.
I used Appics back then, unfortunately they didn't move over.
I've seen Liketu but yet to use it, I want something mobile slick and easy to use, Dapplr seem to have it but extended in a DApp for content creating like Peakd.

We have to be practical and realistic about needing Instagram-like DApp on Hive.

See reply with @liketu in the comments for the mobile app.

I don't see anything unpractical about having an instagram-like app on hive. We (HIVE) seem to be perfectly fine rewarding mercenary capital a higher yield (HBD@20%) than risk-taking laborious capital[HP] (even though it is the latter which backs the former) and yet we get our underwear in a twist about a few dollars on content which has the potential to drive the consumer side of social media.

Network effects are important, as is broad consumer appeal. We can't all be creators, we also need a healthy cohort of consumers of content. The last time I checked, the most popular platforms in the world today are all shifting towards short duration, or micro-attention content, be it instagram, or tiktok, or twitter. As jongolso has pointed out, this is a trend already unfolding before our eyes.

Context is quite important when establishing whether something is of value. There is no easy way to use any inputs from what is stored in a post to determine the 'value' of it objectively. Naturally, we pretty much all agree value is subjective. But we often hear things like 'good effort', 'good quality' as if that is a barometer of value - certain they can be, but it wouldn't be much effort for me to write a lot of words, use some fancy jargon, and take some pictures with my expensive camera to supplement. It could easily pass as good quality and good effort even when I don't believe it is.

This is why we have the brain element, and why I do a lot of studies on Brain Energy and how that pertains to the fair value of the price of HIVE. We are a proof of brain platform after-all. But what is most interesting, is that ultimately, we can wave our social justice signals around about how good content with good effort is what determines 'value' all we want - and sure I am not saying that it isn't valuable - but it doesn't necessarily expand the user base, it may not expand the total brain energy input into the ecosystem, and together, might not result in actual net demand for long term investors, for which, we actually need to ascribe value to anything at all.

What can we do about this?

We need to start looking at network effects from users, the communities they form, the downstream effects of growing their network, willingness to purchase stake, willingness to use their precious time and energy to participate as better indicators of what kind of people we should be rewarding.

If Justin Bieber showed up and posted a selfie, I am certain it would set records on trending, and no one would bat an eyelid to whether it deserved the reward it was voted for. And yet, if nobody knew who he was, and what influence he has in the real world, he'd likely be one of thousands of posters who wonder why their posts get no love. Context is key!

At the end of the day, we cannot deny that people enjoy short form content, whether it's pictures, a blurb, or a few second long video clip. We should be more medium agnostic, and focus on the downstream effects brought on by the creator.

I remember ats-david said something which struck a chord with me quite strongly, so much so I actually took a screenshot of it!

Food for thought I'd say!

Many thanks for the response, now with liketu mobile App almost already its time my interests in photography gets revived.

You mentioned network effect, truth with all necessary support for liketu and the team behind delivering top class App the chances of luring photography lovers onto Hive is high and with resource credits being needed to access the chain after the next HF instead of HP delegation onboarding should get a lot easier.

We have a robot ecosystem here capable of accommodating almost anything we can imagine, we just have to make things work for the benefit of the entire Hive ecosystem.

I've got to keep my eyes 👀 on liketu
