Inconcievable!

How is it even possible that we are entering week 5 of the college football season? I feel like it was just a last week that we were staring the season. Now here we are a third of the way through and things are really starting to get exciting. The Big Ten has some marquise match ups in the wings and coming off the excitement from last weekend I think it is safe to say we are all in the need of a break.

Probably the most exciting thing happening in the Big 10 this weekend is the number 21 USC vs number 23 Illinois game. Yes, Washington is undefeated heading into their game against number 1 Ohio State (also undefeated), but let's be honest, who has Washington really played so far this year. At least OSU gets a better time slot than the miserable 11 PM game time Michigan State got against USC last weekend.

I take that back. The biggest game in the Big 10 this weekend happens on Saturday night at 7:30. It's number 6 Oregon heading into number 3 Penn State for what should be a heck of a show down. This is going to be the point where we see if the Nittany Lions can shake off the stigma of losing big games. They have had solid teams over the past couple of years, but they just haven't been able to get over that hump.

I hope that isn't the case for them this weekend. I'd love to see a Duck get slapped.

Somehow Michigan and Michigan State are both on bye this week. Must be a big party in the state of Michigan happening somewhere. Too bad I wasn't invited...

I'm not really seeing any games in the 12:00 PM slot that stand out to me besides the USC/Illinois game. Likely I will be out mowing the lawn anyway, so no big deal.

At 3:30 the number 4 LSU versus number 13 Ole Miss game will probably be playing on my TV either out on the deck or as I lay on my couch reading a book. If I am lucky I can do a multiview between that game and the Ohio STate one. Sure, number 11 Indiana is taking on Iowa at that time, but I expect Indy should have a pretty easy time with that game. I think...

Number 15 Tennessee is taking their one loss into an undefeated Mississippi State, but I have a feeling that might go the same way as the Ohio State/Washington game. Don't quote me on that...!

Arizona versus number 14 Iowa State might be a good game though kind of insignificant. Both teams are undefeated and one will be getting their first loss on the season.

Stiff competition Saturday night for the Oregon/Penn State game will be number 17 Alabama versus number 5 Georgia. It's at Georgia, so hopefully they have little trouble facing Bama, but this rivalry goes deep, so you never know what might happen.

That's about all I have for college football this week.

Detroit hosts Cleveland at 1:00 PM on Sunday, so you better believe I will be situated somewhere that I can watch that game. I hope it ends up being a win for the 2-1 Lions against the 1-2 Browns.
