WHO AM I BEHIND CLOSED DOORS?___WEEK 88(EP1)

(edited)

Hello Scifi family, welcome to my entry for Week 88 Edition 1.

This prompt hit me hard because it is the truth we all run from.

It is eassy to be goood when peopple are watchinng. We smmile, we act discipplined, we say the rigght thinggs. We post our best moments online. But who are we when the data is off, when the door is closed, when no one will clap for us?

For a long time, I was two people. The public me was hardworking, always "I am fine", always strong. But the private me? The private me was different. When nobody was watching, I would procrastinate. I would scroll for hours and do nothing. I would promise myself "tomorrow I will start" and tomorrow never came. I would keep malice in my heart but smile outside.

The real measure of me was not my Hive posts, it was what I did in my room by 1am when I should be sleeping but I am overthinking.

Last year, something changed. I decided to watch myself when nobody is watching.

I started with small private victories that no one ever heard about. Like resisting the temptation to procastinate clients work when I was tired. Like keeping my promise to wake up by 6am even though no one would know if I slept till 9am. Like praying in my room without posting it. Like forgiving someone who never said sorry, just in my heart.

Nobody clapped for those things. But those small quiet choices started building me.

Now I understand — character is not built on stage. Character is built in the dark. The discipline you do when no one sees you is the one that will save you when everyone is watching.

If my private actions were displayed publicly on a big screen, would I be proud? Six months ago, I would have said no. Today, I am getting closer to yes. Not perfect, but better. I am becoming someone who is honest even when lying would be easier. Someone who shows up even when tired.

That is the person I am becoming when nobody is watching.

What about you? Who are you when the lights go off?
