Understanding our purpose and the essence of life

We are born and we die. It begs the existential question, what is the purpose of everything? What is the purpose of life?

I believe everyone is brought into this world to contribute their quota to it. It's not just enough passing through life, we have to give as much as we get. That’s how the world gets better.

Think about this, if you give to the world in your own way, thus impacting the lives of others, and every other person does the same thing, thereby impacting your life, the world becomes better.

Life is about give and take. It would be very unfortunate to just be a passer-by in this life. It would be sad to live and die without something that people can remember you by.

It is very important to leave an impact on people, touch lives, even in your own little way.

One might wonder, what is the essence of work? Why do we wake up every morning and work when after all, we will all die. My answer is that every honest, legitimate work is important. We work because we want to help a company, business, or organization solve problems that affect people in one way or another.

By working, we contribute in our way to make humanity better, to push humanity forward and to make the world a better place.

Let’s take those that work in tech companies for example. Everyone who works with a tech firm has an important role in the world because they help manufacture good technology that makes life easy for us and advances human civilization. So indirectly, they contribute their quota in making the world a better place, which is their purpose.

The same applies to those in healthcare. Everyone who works in healthcare makes sick people feel better, individual after individual. In the long run, you’ll see that these health workers are contributing their own share in making the world better by saving lives and improving the quality of people’s lives.

This is applicable to many other jobs or career. People can cause an impact through their music, movies, art, teachings, products and many more.

In conclusion, I will say that life exists for us to pass through it, and make an impact before we die, so that those who remain and the coming generation will benefit from the impact we made and also remember us. Your purpose doesn’t have to be something big, it doesn’t have to be something grand. It could be that little thing you do on a regular basis that can impact people, even if it’s just one person.

It’s also okay if you feel like you haven’t found your purpose yet. You always have time. All it would take is some deep reflection and experiences, your purpose will eventually come to you.
