Water Pump: Science and My Own Experience.
I am Rukeya, and I am writing this article in my own way. What I do regularly in our village is to pump water from a pond. What I used to do with a hand pump or bucket, now I do it with a small water pump.
It has been almost a year since I bought this pump. Earlier, I thought that I would never be able to do these electrical things. But now I see, it is a very simple thing – just flip the switch, and the water starts to rise.
With the help of this pump, I pump water from the pond and give it to the plants, fields, and even water the animals in the barn.
What does science say about this pump
I am not a scientist, but I have heard a little bit. A water pump is an electric motor. It needs electricity to run. There is a kind of wheel inside, which rotates and draws water. That water comes up through a pipe.
That means, the motor rotates and rotates and draws water – that’s it, the job is done!
How I use it
I run the motor twice a day – in the morning and in the afternoon. I have a 1 horsepower motor. It is not too big, not too small either. It can be called medium size.
I was very nervous when I first bought the motor. I was thinking to myself, what will happen if there is a short circuit in the electricity! Later, the brother from the next house came and installed the motor. It is very simple – a switch board, a pipe, and a motor.
I was a little scared when I ran it the first day. Then I saw how much water was lifted in a short time. I am so happy! Now it is difficult to go without it.
Why I like the motor
Minor problems that I encounter
Sometimes the motor gets a little hot. I don't run it for long, I run it for 15-20 minutes and then turn it off.
Another time, soil got into the pipe, and the water wasn't coming out. I noticed that the mouth was blocked, opened it and cleaned it and fixed it again. Now I understand - if you don't clean it regularly, there will be problems.
What I have understood by using
When running the motor, no one should touch the switch with wet hands.
The mouth of the pump should always be under water, otherwise it will suck air.
If you run it once and turn it off for 5-10 minutes, the motor will cool down.
Sometimes, it is not good to run the motor if the current voltage is low.
What I want to do in the future
I am now thinking of installing solar panels to run this motor. That will also reduce the electricity bill, and it can be run all the time. And if I can afford it, I will arrange a separate line for a big motor to feed.
Conclusion
This water-lifting motor is now my daily companion. It has many benefits in my life. What used to take hours to do, now it can be done in a few minutes.
